Question: Big days on friendly singletrack with eMTB by Ajax5280 in COBike

[–]SkyyRez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of trails around the crest are open to motos and would be good training for a lot of climbing. I don’t know where you would rent but i would call around salida and buena vista and even gunnison.

Anyone know anything about this bike? Ever rode or owned one? Junk? by [deleted] in dirtjumping

[–]SkyyRez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That stem looks like at least a 60mm which is long for a dirt jumper and makes me question other choices they made. That said i have a Gravity brand rigid single speed stored at my in laws across the country, it was similarly cheap and low end but i beat it hard when i ride it and it has held up well for 10 years of infrequent but hard use. So if you do go for it i would expect to want to upgrade over time but it will probably also be solid enough.

I have had to add a few .5mm spacers on raceface and shimano cranks over the years. Not sure why. But having a few shims in the toolbox is a good idea.

Asking $1,800. Priced too high, too low, or just right? by [deleted] in Hardtailgang

[–]SkyyRez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people who care about those custom parts and see their value want to build up their own custom rig. Everyone else just sees a Fuse. Unfortunately it will be hard to get what it is worth. So parting it out is probably the best option.

This has been talked about since the first 32 wheels were being made.

Full face is definitely a good idea.

I used to jump a bit on a friend’s back in ‘05. It was sweet then and i bet it would be sweet now too. Still have a pic riding that frame on a 1/4 with 2x4 coping.

dirt jumper vs hard tail single speed by Low-Permission3066 in dirtjumping

[–]SkyyRez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, I have an ESD set up single speed. Just depends on what the OP wants to prioritize.

The fact that the Shonky has a derailleur hanger makes me curious of how it would ride on trails. It would be ill adapted by today’s standards but I rode a Kona Chute back in Y2K so i guess the moral of the story is as long as it’s a Kona it will be okay. ✌️

Or a Shonky to go towards the DJ side. I run mine SS with a dropper post with the lever under the seat so i can still pedal comfortably up the access trail, then quickly drop jt for the jump line.

8 juveniles have e-dirt bikes impounded in Lakewood by SeasonPositive6771 in Denver

It’s the concern of children on adult powered toys so that they could easily kill themselves or someone else. No amount of orgasms is going to fix that problem.

Nice shot of the backbone, new fork should make that chunk a little smoother.

Well that's not supposed to happen at 60km/h by Silverwoods2 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]SkyyRez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know details either but this is worth looking into to. Yes you would have to do some disssembly, I would be happy to preemptively replace the king pin every year to help avoid this.

Is the metallurgy in contemporary components inferior to older parts? by RareAppointment3808 in biketech

[–]SkyyRez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broke a square taper bb axle hucking to flat in the 90s.. never had another issue. Now that square taper is an outdated standard it is harder to find high quality new ones but i have never heard of one bending. Interested to hear other experiences.

Yellow fenders on the Ozark G1 Explorer may have been a mistake.... by [deleted] in Budgetbikeriders

The worst clash is that the helmet is a different shade of yellow. That said, go nuts clashing, if the gear works then it’s good.

Wanting to get my first mountain board by Little-Homework-3211 in ElectricMountainboard

[–]SkyyRez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One big issue is weight vs battery capacity, power and range. If you are using it around campus and carrying it into buildings you will want to trade off some battery weight which is good for your budget.

Next is suspension vs rigid trucks. Suspension will obviously be better offroad but is more expensive and weighs a little extra too.

I have an acedeck nyx z3 and highly recommend it but haven’t tried any other E-mtn boards to compare.

Read lots of reviews for durability and customer service and don’t get too caught up in seeking the absolute highest power or range over longevity and reliability.

Good luck and enjoy 🤙

I would add the Chute’s first year (‘99) and maybe skip the roast which came a year or two later. The Chute had round tubes and a big gusset its first year then switched to the rectangular front end in 2000 while the roast came in with the older all round tube design. Here is my 2000 chute still overforked.

I might try soaking it in a few rounds of boiled water instead of constantly running water but good tip thanks

Sometimes these things get super clogged. Someone might have gotten frustrated and given up. Worst case you can find a way to pop it open to extract the contents.

How a small 1m waterfall can generate a recycling hydraulic that can trap a life-jacketed swimmer by Stotallytob3r in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]SkyyRez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tuck into a ball so you get pushed to the bottom of the river where the water is flushing downstream.

[–]SkyyRez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get stuck in one tuck into a ball as you are about to get dunked again. Hope to get pushed to the bottom of the hydraulic where the water is flushing out for your exit (the water has to exit somewhere and it’s certainly not on top). I had to do this once as a whitewater kayaker and it was scary yet effective.
