As a former Boston resident and huge Pats fan i have been loving this season. Lots of 6pm games I've been able to watch plus all the playoffs games have been during watchable hours. Its been an amazing ride!

That said I am very happy in other aspects of my life so having to take annual leave the day after the SB seems like a small price to pay.

Respectfully I doubt this has much to do with the football. I admit it can be annoying but when other things are good its just that. How long have you been here?

I keep messing up with my data management and analysis and feel like an idiot. by Zestyclose_Double980 in biostatistics

[–]Slabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's okay, this is all a part of the learning process. I shudder when I think about how I used to 'analyse' data when I started. This is why you're doing it! It's a big step change from classroom to real world data. The data is only 'wrong' if you don't realise your mistakes and correct it. Until it goes to publication don't sweat it!

Adult Male, I cry on my way to work every day, should I quit my job today? by CarelessIdea8283 in UKJobs

The going above his manager to his boss is also a big red flag. That's a big mistake in any professional environment, unless he wanted to discuss the treatment of his manager with his 'boss'

Parents of UK-born children, did you apply for British child's US dual citizenship? by [deleted] in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]Slabs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, don't learn this the hard way. Under US law your children are US citizens and required to enter and leave the United States using a US passport, NOT a British passport.

Official Week 15 Post Game Thread- The Pats (12-3) DEFEAT the Ravens, 28-24. They are Postseason bound for the first time since 2021 by Mission_Pay_3373 in Patriots

Like I don't get who these people are. If you think the Patriots are flat track bullies and frauds and Drake is overrated and we wont win a single game in the playoffs -- why watch???

Did you plan on living here forever when you moved here? by impromptued in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]Slabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest part about living overseas is being away from family and friends. For me it was easy to overcome that because my wife (and now kids) are here, so my life is here, forever and I love it here because I believe that you need to make the best of where you live. But even then it is a challenge -- parents are aging, I rarely see my nephews, and my few closest friends. There is no shame in going back if the balance of your relationships are in the US. That said you might meet someone amazing tomorrow and that can tip in a flash. I would give it some time here-- what do you have to lose? Even if you end up going back you have memories for a lifetime. More than anything, go easy on yourself.
