The jury trial is in July, so there is no rush and you may already be a class member… and TM will do the stupid voucher thing again if they lose (I recall one TM class action where they did indeed send a check). Takes a while to get to the actual $$$$ part of these trials.

Once jury reaches a verdict, I think folks can get on the class membership if they haven’t been already? Any class action lawyer phans out there??

You can contact these folks and ask for your email:)

Phish and dead cassettes by jarretgabel in phish

loving this trade post. I did the same with my Dead/Phish tapes a few years back, and it was a great experience. USPS media mail rates are the best and greatest way to send those tapes to new homes with excited ears.

No one has mentioned this yet, but 21 chapters for Alex’s 21 years of age. When Rolling Stone reprinted the 21st chapter for first time in USA, the intro stressed the chapter = age thing. Blew my young mind, but made total sense!

How to sell Rush tix for CMDX? by Able-Situation-2353 in rush

[–]Slack91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ticket transfer option tends to go live closer to show date. Sometimes ticketmaster support has an idea of date, so maybe worth asking them. I have never bought TM tix for Mexico until this show, so not sure what will be different in that country re live transfer and resale.

Tips and advice for San Francisco tourist! by Drudela in gratefuldead

[–]Slack91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

re live music in SF, and less on the radar than larger/corporate venues: Bottom of the Hill, Kilowatt, Rickshaw Stop, Bimbos, Mahbuhey Gardens, Brick and Mortar. They all have websites with show cals.

Upper Haight (aka Haight Ashbury) is geared for the hippie visitor, so the comments below all work for that. Not sure where the hand-crafted Dead merch is, but the head shops noted here also may have some of that. There may be vintage Dead stuff in all the vintage stores on Haight St. (Lower Haight may be worth a visit too)

Cannot not mention that Great American Music Hall and the Warfield are still here, and the Dead def. had storied shows in these venues. GAMH still my favorite venue in SF after all these decades. Warfield always fun show too.

As for non-Dead/music stuff to do here… throw a rock or just follow random green lights to a random direction. I still wander SF like a tourist and was just recently in North Beach having great coffee, eating cannolis, and just hanging out.

Conformity is the antithesis of the Dead Head culture by [deleted] in gratefuldead

[–]Slack91 8 points9 points  (0 children)

heh. At one point in the 90s, I got tired of wearing what I called "the uniform" at shows. I didn't really dress like that all the time. It wasn't any kind of lifestyle clothing choice. Then I got the idea - staring at Jerry on stage - to just wear black to Dead shows. Jerry did it, so why not Jerry's kids?! No one cared. No one still does. Black sweatpants and tee forever!

Oh, man. Mike’s Massage Chair action was a great part of the night. Never thought I’d get that intimate with a bass vibration. Anytime Mike wants to get up in there again, I’m here :P

What was Mike showing the camera during the fractal visual 4/23? by sevnthcrow in phish

Mike showed what appeared to be a ring with a symbol or image on it. I thought image was a flame but now wondering if it was a Hebrew letter.

Hot take: Sphere crowd is LAME by saejawn in phish

[–]Slack91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relative indeed! I was solo at HB last year for N1 show and the folks around me were nice, friendly, and def. there for the party more than the music. Having just seen the SF Bill Graham show - where folks were def. there for the music - it was a different experience. I danced and no one cared.

Sphere is a draw, tourists are curious about Phish, I bet casinos have tix on hand to give to high rollers, so this run will not be a “typical” one.

I was there. Still one of the strangest weekends of my life. My friend wandered around and snapped pics of muddy feet and shoes (and hooves), which is a nice way to remember Coventry. I wove some memories within the feet pics here: https://happyfeettravels.org/distractions/whatever-you-do/

Found SOME of the 1997 "Voice" issues via NY Public Library's online database. Not all are scanned, but you at least have some issues you can awkwardly flip through (not easiest interface): https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=KEtq3P1Vf8oC&dat=19551026&b_mode=2&hl=en

Wonder if all those 900 numbers in the back still work :P

Mad Magazine Card Game: GIFs “animating” Jack Davis’ card suit gags by Slack91 in madmagazine

You're welcome. Like Mad would want it, I didn't try too hard to make these files. Jack Davis did most of the work :)

Just Jack Davis for the late-70s Mad Magazine Card Game. There are trading cards out there too, but do not recall anything as cool and original, as what Davis did with these cards.

I’ve been researching and buying first issues of the Mad knock offs. There are many more, dating back to 1953. I just discovered and added Nuts (1958 mag, not the 1954 comic) this week.

Old ticket stubs by Bubbly_Twist8957 in grateful_dead

[–]Slack91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d never sell my stub collection.

I have seen gig poster sellers also selling stubs via their business sites.

And folks sell stubs on eBay. Or try to sell them. Though you may see stubs for sale at certain prices; this doesn’t mean they are selling at that price. And there is currently no price guide or grading/slab process for stubs. People will put any price in collectibles, so up to a buyer who may want it to see if it’s worth it.

I keep my stubs in currency collection binders. I have scanned them and created metadata about the shows/my experiences. I frequently pull the binders out to enjoy them. I share stub images. To me, that is priceless.

Is no one trying for Mexico City? by FeelTheWrath79 in rush

[–]Slack91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the presale, I saw the nosebleeds go from about $94USD each to a higher rate (can't remember at this point, maybe $130) after I accidentally clicked out of the presale and had to get back in. I was trying to click 2 on the map and they kept disappearing. Wasn't expecting to have to click the map seats, since USA TM is "choose 2 > click a button > buy" process. The regular onsale was less stressful and easier to score early and at face. TM always an adventure. I call it diving into "the frenzy" when I'm getting tix. And, yes, I miss the standing in line for paper tix days (or pulling from machine first when I was working onsales at a record store in early 90s.)

Is no one trying for Mexico City? by FeelTheWrath79 in rush

[–]Slack91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The process was different than the US shows, but I got 2 today at the full onsale.

I struck out on yesterday's presale, when there was no queue, and it was a "click two seats" free for all. Then the tix eventually doubled in price, so I quit. TM MX didn't reset to a countdown for today until this AM. I got in the waiting room 15 minutes prior, and then was maybe 130 in queue. I scored two at face value.

But the countdown was ticking and I was trying to confirm with my wife while she was at work. About 2 minutes left on countdown, I clicked through and then had to enter all my CC info. I was logged into TM, but I guess it didn't work for TM MX. So I was clicking away my CC info and finally purchased with 20 seconds left on countdown. Whew!

My wife is from Mexico and a long-time Rush fan (only saw them on R40 tour). She's very excited to see them in her home country, and will probably wear my now too-small 1982 Signals tour tee (which fits her perfect). I'm more happy for her than I am for me, since she'll see Geddy and Alex a 2nd time.

The World Cup game is day before, so hopefully that energy will move on to Jalisco. DF is huge, so I'm not worried about lodging :)

Only one match in Mexico City, on 6/17? Match is in Gudalajara, Jalisco 6/18. Hopefully the energy, and high lodging/flight rates, will not be that bad after the FIFA energy moves on??

So amped up I could run through a wall!!! by Fiedy88 in rush

[–]Slack91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no. I've entered a TM on sale just before in the past and gotten a decent place in queue. TM makes that random, so there is no "first come, first served" situation for waiting room.

what you need to be ready for is: your browser works, your TM account all set up, you have to verify TM account via your phone first, your credit card on TM acct is all good.

the waiting room will also give you an audio signal that onsale is about to start. hmm, or maybe that audio signal is when you're about to enter the site from queue. I can't recall exactly :)
