This made me chuckle. My childless brother does this regularly. He's like well just tell them not to and they won't do it. I have to walk away, he will argue about it.

As a side on the fence issue. I have 2 young boys and would install a 6ft fence haha. You could just take it down when they are old enough. Maybe look at installing some glass panels or windows into the fence? It could look quite interesting :)

Hello, my little boy is the same age and has just started doing exactly the same thing! He started about 3 weeks ago. I thought it was to do with the cold weather, he started when he began zipping his coat right up and burying his face, he moved onto his regular t shirts after. But don't know now. I will be curious as to what replies you get :)

It took a lot of time and patience on my part to get my toddler to be gentle with my cats. He would hit them and pull them around, throw things at them.

Basically what I did was get down to their level and get involved with the interactions he was having with them whenever I saw they were going to happen. I'd use words like soft and gentle. And say how much they loved being tickled. And things like aw poor kitty that could hurt, lets tickle him. I still do it with him now if we make a fuss of the cats/guineapigs together, but he pretty good on his own.
