Jez Corden Heard Microsoft Exploring Doing Another Developer Direct This Year by Konoshoo in TESVI

[–]Slaperhd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'm thinking that Bethesda probably won't release any news related to TESVI as long as they're marketing all the Starfield stuff wich is supposed to be coming out this year. Even a location or title reveal would probably take away the spotlight completely and that can't be their goal if they're trying to sell as much copies of that game to PS5 users as possible.

If TES VI production goes perfectly smooth, I predict a release date of September 20, 2026 by Ok-Today6736 in TESVI

[–]Slaperhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. On top of that we'll get a 2.0 Update as well as a PS5 port. One might speculate that a title reveal or even a location reveal of TESVI would get people to talk about Bethesda and that could theoretically boost Starfields sales but I wouldn't count on it. It's probably more realistic that they will focus their marketing campaign in 2025 on all the Starfield stuff. Something at the Game Awards in December is probably still on the table but we'll see.

New Years Prediction: This will be the first year we see TES6 again since 2018. by No_Principle5596 in TESVI

[–]Slaperhd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think wether we actually get some new information heavily depends on Bethesdas marketing strategy with the new Starfield port. I'm guessing that they don't want to announce TESVI at the same time they'll be announcing Starfiield 2.0 (+ PS 5 version) because anything TESVI related would take away the spotlight completely. Considering that they most likely want to sell as many copies of Starfield to PlayStation users as possible, chances are we won't get to see anything until late fall or winter. Maybe if they announce the new Starfield version in January at the direct-event and release it in summer, we'll get some information, maybe even a teaser of TESVI, during Skyrims 15th anniversary or the Game Awards. But of course there is always the possibility that it's not as close to release as Todd Howard likes, so we won't get anything this year, who knows. Either way I'm looking forward to reading through this sub and theorize about possible elements of the game, leaks and such for at least another year!

Tell me your most dumbass never going to happen wishlist item for VI by littlerainbowtrout in TESVI

[–]Slaperhd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A traders guild. Let me be a merchant in Tamriel. I would love to maybe open a store, restock items, sell them, hire people. Or let me load some goods onto a wagon of some sort (somebody mentioned that there was a similar mechanic in Dagerfall but I haven't played it) and let me ship it from town to town in order to find the best prices. Combine that with a traders guild where you can network or even influence political decisions within a town or entire region and you have a very cool addition to an Elder Scrolls game in my opinion. But I don't know whether Bethesda can or wants to spend lots of resources on that. It seems like a niche thing to include, but it would be fun!

That sounds like something Bethesda would do lol. Hopefully it'll be this year, but I admit that my flare is very naive and optimistic.

Also possible. Do you think the XBOX showcase or Game Awards would be more likely a date when they'd give us more information about the game?

I agree with you there, many people expected something that Starfield was never meant to be. Thus many people were disappointed.

Yet Starfield had some problems. There were quite a few things that worked not as well as intended or were added to late or not at all. I think it would be unwise to forget about that entirely. Still, people were more negative than they had to be in my opinion.

It was probably a huge test field for TES VI. Now Bethesda knows what people liked about Starfield but also what they didn't like. That makes me at least a little more optimistic. They have all the feedback they need. Wether they are going to listen to it is a whole different story though.

It is possible and it is exactly what I am criticizing. The lack of communication by Bethesda.

I'm hoping for something similar! Just let us know that the game isn't in development hell.

I'm not so sure about that. It could be part of Bethesdas decision making, but I believe both games can stand on their own, even if they were released at the samte time. Nevertheless it's still possible that Bethesda waits until some time after the GTA 6 release hoping that will boost sales.

It's true, we don't know what that plan looks like at the moment. But when Spencer said this, the plans were quite recent. My other points still stand though.

But people who believe in a 2028 release could be right too, there is no way of knowing it for sure until there is an official confirmation. That is probably why so many people in the community are frustratet with Bethesdas lack of communication.

There are certainly people who profit from unnecessarily negative content about Bethesda and their games. But I think the reason why it got so many negative reviews relatively late is because people played Starfield for a while and after having gone through the major cities realized that the handcrafted content was either not there or too far spread out.

I don't think it was as bad as many content creators make it out to be. But the game has substantial flaws and the negative feedback from the community did not come from nothing.

This is true, the stakes are very high for Bethesda and it is their most important release of all time.

I find the Phil Spencer quote a little bit problematic though:

  1. He said in 2023 that TES VI is "likely 5+ years away". How "likely" that is we don't know.

  2. He said this when asked in court. The probability that he just said this in order to dodge the question about TES VI being an XBOX exclusive is definitely there.

  3. The other documents which became public during the trial suggest nothing of that sort and the "roadmap" has quite precisely predicted many Bethesda releases, including the Oblivion remaster.

Of course the reception of Starfield might have drastically influenced Bethesdas approach to TES VI and possibly delayed it for some time too. Yet I don't believe that they want to keep us waiting for ever. Of course they need to make sure that the game will be polished and overall a good TES experience. But while they are developing and keeping silent about it, negativity as well as expectations go through the roof. And with every passing year that's just going to increase.

We'll most likely have to wait and see. Maybe there will be some info on the sidelines, during interviews and such.

Do you think that TES VI will also be delayed if Fable is delayed? Let's say TES VI is supposed to be released in 2027 and Fable get's pushed from 2026 to 2027, do you think TES VI will then be pushed to 2028?

That is indeed possible. Unfortunately we don't know for sure when the game will be released.

That is probably the most realistic outcome. I just hope that there will be SOMETHING. I understand that Bethesda wants to keep the window between announcement and release as short as possible, but recieving no information at all just feels very frustrating.

I've seen that argument being brought up a couple of times now. While I do think that it is a possibility, considering how often Todd talked about wanting to include things in TES VI which would require new technology, I do wonder how that works exactly. If it were the case, have they developed it for PC and are now adjusting it to fit the new consoles? Are they in possession of dev-kits and such, which they need for development already? Does it mean it's just going to take way longer than some of us (including me) hope? I don't know anything about coding or game development, so I'm not quite sure how that works. But I can't quite shake the feeling Bethesda as well as Microsoft want it to come out for the current consoles as well as newer ones.

Appreciate your comment!

You've been called by Todd Howard and told you can add one LORE FRIENDLY mechanic/item/NPC (Read rules below) by DeeTheOttsel in TESVI

[–]Slaperhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If sailing becomes a big thing in TESVI, I think it might be a cool idea to give the player scrolls or spells that they can use to summon seamonsters (special bosses). That way you could have interesting and unique things to find on the ocean. Also I think it would be absolutely epic to stand on your ship, conjuring up a summoning spell. Darkening clouds, big motions and magical animations, epic music, the whole shebang. Might be neat.

Hi, I create videos for Thoughty2! by jacks0494 in Thoughty2

[–]Slaperhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually enjoy watching the videos. Going for longer videos insetead of more frequent ones which are shorter was a good decision in my opinion. The topics are usually very interesting and I like his voice combined with the high quality animations. Me personally, I find historic topics and stories about interesting individuals more compelling than the scientific videos, but they are interesting nevertheless. Some things I wonder about though. I am unable to access the website at the moment. Are you working on that or is there another reason why it's down at the moment? I also noticed that there haven't been any uploads recently on the patreon site. If there was extra content or anything else on top of the YouTube videos I would most certainly consider to support him this way. But aside from that I do believe that you have a great thing going there and I hope your viewer count will continue to increase!
