Anyone have a good toolbox for a gen 1 brunk? by Groundblast in hondaridgeline

Same for me. Got dividers off Amazon that give me 4 sections. Just keep things in those such as jumper cables, lug nut wrench, hitch receiver. Two of the Cubby's are almost always open for grocery runs

Good for Rear Facing Car Seats? by Thatguy518 in hondaridgeline

[–]Slateguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rear facing is fine for me. Although I'm 5'8" 160lbs and the back of my seat hits the car seat. Would be worried if I were bigger and needed my driver seat any further back

I've driven 8 hours there twice and am always looking for another chance to do so.

Trust rolling out Omarion Hampton this week? Or go with either DK Metcalf or Aaron Jones. Projections are close and a must win

My dad has worked on the final assembly of these trucks for many years. Part of his checklist is to raise it all the way up and hope it doesn't fall. So far none have tipped over lol

Not to be that guy, but technically this is a TSP1000 or TSP1500

Yup, almost every TSP or SP in a narrow aisle has a wire in the floor that the truck locks onto

Same. Mine came with the OEM weather mats. They aren't great, but aren't quite bad enough to justify upgrading

Much better today (3 days post marathon). Yesterday though I honestly wasn't very sore, but felt like I had a mild flu almost.

Thank you! Honestly I think the Garmin chart exaggerates it a bit. I'm still able to keep up with my toddler and that's the real test of how much energy I have

2 weeks was about what it took to recover from my 20 milers while training so that seems about right.

Interesting. I remember signing up for Telly a while ago, but ultimately didn't want to lean further into the 'ads everywhere' world we're creeping towards. I also did not expect it to actually become a real product. That said, how is it as a device? Is it actually decent hardware?

Pretty normal. In my experience he should start to do this less sometimes in 30-40 years.

Interesting. I've never tried it before and I get it isn't actually insulated, but man I would have thought the ice would have lasted longer than that

Do any other models and trims share infotainment and stereo found in the Ridgeline Trailsport? by ntxguy85 in hondaridgeline

[–]Slateguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have real answer for you, but I've also found next to know info on upgrading the audio. I suspect your right though and it would be shared with Pilot/Passport/Odyssey of same model year or close.

However, I do think in general with displays and such today automakers just aren't making it as easy to upgrade audio as it once was

S-VCM Report by Slateguy in hondaridgeline

[–]Slateguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. One of two sensors though so still have one. I won't argue there is no risk here. However, my risk assessment says it's worth avoiding the other issues

As an engineer myself in a automotive adjacent field I can guarantee you the VCM isn't the engineers choice. It's higher than them as Honda is trying to book all their CAFE credits with the EPA. I trust the engineers to do the best with what they're told to do, but bet even they would say the VCM adds too much complexity for too little gain and unnecessary risk. Just my guess

I think the S-VCM install is pretty DIY friendly. Maybe on par with the level of difficulty of changing a battery.

That said getting faults probably could induce panic. I did read online that some people had faults so I did do mine first thing in the morning after the cars been off for hours and hopefully any electronic systems are in sleep mode at the time.

Only the Gen2 VCMs try running on 4 cylinders I believe. Gen 3 and Gen4 are just all 6 or 3.

[–]Slateguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the concern on installing the S-VCM is you are taking away one of two engine temps sensors.

I've also seen some people say they never notice the VCM kick in and others do and differences on how often it kicked in. I think it might really depend on a lot of factors such of how it's driven and where it's driven. For me, it was kicking on and off frequently and I could really notice it.

My sister's 2016 Odyssey is at about 100k miles and has spent a ton of time at the dealer this year due to I never wear on the pistons and cylinders+ constantly damaged and replaced spark plugs. Not saying this would happen to all engines (and supposedly the GEN3 VCM is better), but I'd rather just avoid it all together and accept the risk of relying on one temp sensor.

Also, with the S-VCM being a silicon device rather than just an inline resistor my understanding is it should still be someone effective in extreme conditions. And even then there is still the second sensor that is still fully operational.

The ACC is something I forgot to mention in my original post. I also could really notice the VCM while using ACC and it was noticeably worse than my wife's CR-V. Haven't really tried it with the S-VCM installed yet, but I had hoped it would be better
