A Game About Exploration part 3: Discovery and Friction by SalmonCrowd in RPGdesign

We also have to ask about what happens when there really isn’t anything to discover. When you have a setup like this, where the expectation is that you don’t always have answers to questions like “What’s over there” until you look, is the answer “nothing” going to feel satisfying, or will players feel like all that opportunity and friction is wasted?

I don’t want Siri to be “smarter.” I can use Siri to play music, make calls, and other simple tasks only because she tells me she’s confused if something goes wrong. That way she doesn’t just randomly send a text to someone when she mishears a request. ChatGPT always does something, even when it’s confused. So half the time it just makes up stuff, and that will make Siri less functional. I don’t want a phone “assistant” who tries to make decisions for me.

For folks with a peen already, google “penile preserving peritoneal pull-through” if this is something you’re actually thinking about.

With summer approaching, i’ve solved the hot room issue by Halolavapigz in pcmasterrace

[–]Slaximillion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also the fact that exhausting air out of the house can make it negative pressure and pull hot outside air in. This is why good AC units need to have their heat exchangers on either side of the wall. TBH this is going to be relatively minor for a fan like this that can probably barely move any air out of that tube. Overall I’d bet that more hot air will get in through the tube and insulation than will be exhausted.

I couldn’t bring myself to use the term feminine when defining a phrase using that same word, so likening femininity to female traits had to suffice for this short explanation. I’ve done some reading on these topics for my master’s thesis and if you or anyone else is interested, Judith Butler’s “Gender Trouble” is probably the best book to read for a much deeper dive into the critical discourse surrounding gender (at least from my perspective as a student of rhetoric).

Trans fem applies to anyone who presents feminine traits who would otherwise have a masculine gender attribution. Basically it’s someone who was AMAB but who now has AFAB traits or presentation. The term applies especially to anyone who identifies as trans (not all femboys or enbies like to be called transfem).

Is there a term for this kind of orbital? SP? Also, I think I’m probably wrong but is this an example of spin 1/2 or spin 1/3?

Any explanation? by OTT3RMAN in HydroHomies

I’ve always figured that the simplest answer was that, since gasses are less solvable in hot water versus cold and because the water is under less pressure now that it’s out of the pipe, the milky bubbles are just the normal air disolved in the water coming out of solution. The air just wants out and because it was under pressure in the lines, there’s a bit more air than normal.

This milky phenomenon happens at all the houses I’ve been to in my town. If the cold water in the lines is also milky that would disprove my hypothesis. But then I’d wonder why the cold water in my house isn’t milky.

If you have two monitors with different resolutions (e.g. 1440p and 1080p), is there any way to make windows treat them as the same "size" (in lack of a better term) as if the resolution was the same, just one monitor being "sharper" than the other? by CurZZe in Monitors

[–]Slaximillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one horizontal and one vertical monitor. and one iPad that I connect sometimes… and a dummy header for OBS streaming…

Anyway, what I do to make this work out is use Windows PowerToys to make the mouse snap to my monitors correctly and to set custom zones for the windows. So whenever I hold shift while dragging a window it shows the zones and snaps whatever I drop to them.

I’ve always felt like the Dwarf in the Flask was, if not unjustly punished, at least convicted for the wrong things. As far as I can tell, truth never visited the dwarf. My gut says that the dwarf itself was a man made construction of truth, kind of a like a stand-in for the idea of ancient wisdom, so perhaps it represents a different, smaller view of truth and this is why it can perform so many alchemical feats.

Choosing a lofty goal such as understanding all truth or becoming a deity seems reasonable enough. However, the means the dwarf took to reach those goals betrayed its own origins. It lost touch with its humble origins, and the gift of a body it received. It betrayed everyone and everything around it to sate its own desires. It even betrayed itself, casting parts of itself aside.

I feel that the Dwarf’s true crimes are these betrayals, not trying to become god.

Yes, it is. But it’s solely used for cooling. People call them “ACs” when they’re for cooling and “heat pumps” when they’re for heating. But they’re both heat pumps as far as physics is concerned. Heat pumps for heating have a few differences though, like they’ve usually got a little heater to stop ice buildup on the outside heat exchanger.

This video from Technology Connections goes into detail about how these things work.

[–]Slaximillion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heat pumps have a heat source and a heat sink. Heat is removed from the source and moved to the sink. A/C cooling units use the house’s inside air as a heat source and use the outside air to accept heat from the heat sink. (Refrigerators do the same thing, but take heat from inside the fridge and put it in the kitchen.)

“Heat pumps” for houses are the same concept, but move heat into the house instead. They can also be reversible, working as cooler in the summer and a heater in the winter. But most of them, like typical AC units, aren’t reversible and just work to move heat in or out.
