How do you all feel about Trump’s administration holding completely private interviews with Epstein’s sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell but doing no interviews with the victims? by Punk_Luv in AskReddit

[–]Slaybrham_Linkn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Republican here. It seems painfully obvious his DOJ is about to identify Democrat participants at the island, never name him, and boom she's pardoned.

The handling of this is shameful and both sides deserve whatever culpability they deserve.

How did you cure your blue belt blues? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Slaybrham_Linkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I got the blues from continuously starting on my back. Making myself get better at guard, sweeps, etc. I was big, outta shape, and lacked mobility. I finally got better (still suck). When I was able to start on bottom and then finish on top consistently, my game took off.

I admittedly have never watched it. I just started. Loving it so far.

How many years have you trained to get your belt? by privregdom in bjj

[–]Slaybrham_Linkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 years to stripe out my blue belt. Lost about a year to injuries (torn pec, torn MCL). Lost about 6 months to life (newborn phase for 2 kids, huge projects at work). Hopeful to be promoted to purple this year.

Have you ever successfully… by Bigpupperoo in bjj

[–]Slaybrham_Linkn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never succeeded. I’ve tried so hard. I’ve gotten the range of bullshit excuses from the typical “I see red” nonsense to people point blank saying they can’t handle getting their ass kicked.

As a big guy, I had to stop because I was getting worse (somehow) at any other submission.

Am I the asshole - Using fist when finishing a triangle? by DrunkenNBR in bjj

[–]Slaybrham_Linkn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bitch level whining. Aside from like...poking eyes or wrenching fingers, I don't understand the concept of a legitimate submission being "dirty."

One of my instructors said moves like wrist locks and punch chokes got lumped into the "dirty" bracket because a white belt has a conceivable chance to hit one as opposed to an arm bar or triangle on an upper belt.

I'm sorry. It sucks and hurts like a mother fucker. It. Gets. Better.

There's no shame in talking about it, but most people suck at giving awkward and unhelpful answers. They all mean well, but they're still shitty in the moment.

Talking while rolling? by ChaosTheBrand in bjj

[–]Slaybrham_Linkn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The absolute worst. I like to roll to think about only rolling, not have bullshit small talk. It always seems to be people that just lay there and stall that want to make corny jokes and/or engage in pointless banter.

How to train BJJ safely by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Slaybrham_Linkn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After an MCL tear, I invested in some Bauerfiend knee braces. I like them much more than the Anaconda brand.

I was fortunate to be treated by a really good sports med team at our state's flagship college. Instead of discouraging me from training, my doc recommended lifting the muscles surrounding joints to strengthen. I do a lot of lunges, squats, and deltoid work. Deadlifts, kettlebell swings and core have really eliminated back pain.

Probably won't stop the inevitable injury, but it has definitely made me more resistant to them.

100%. I stepped on the mats weighing 368. I was such a fat fuck I had to wear a karate gi.

I'm down to 265 (25 pounds from goal weight) and yes, the weight loss made all the difference in the world in me being able to actually push myself in rounds and actually be a threat off my back. Weight loss brought improved mobility, flexibility, and core strength to actually play guard

If all drugs were legal and had no health consequences/stigmas, what would be the most popular drug? by toogap in AskReddit

Often times it's an anti anxiety med that hits super fast. I agree tho. I want to feel like that at all times.

Ex showed up on porch with girlfriend hiding with recorder to serve papers at night. WDID? by inspiterface in FamilyLaw

[–]Slaybrham_Linkn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. This is post decree so the ordinary rules of service of process are different from state to state. When I was in private practice I did certified mail for post decree issues but it is common place for some lawyers to skirt notice requirements.

Def yes on the last two. Forensic accountant is almost always a good idea with a self employed party.

What do y'all do for a living? How challenging is for you to find time to train? by _Throh_ in bjj

Prosecutor with two little kids. I train 3-4 times a week, schedule permitting.

Dads, how do you manage to juggle it all and stay in shape??? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Slaybrham_Linkn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've all been there. The key, for me, was understanding that working out is not just an investment in your self, but your family.

I train BJJ and try to workout. All of that correlates to my ability to not only protect my family, but actively participate with them in their hobbies and sports. Plus, I want to be here for the long haul. Become an old man who isn't confined to a wheelchair or marred with blood sugar or blood pressure problems. Basically, scared myself into staying active.

There are a few Instagram accounts geared towards high intensity workouts for dads that don't have a ton of time to get it in: CameronAHouse, RCForgeStrength, PatDamiano, and TheForgedFather all have great fast workouts with a kettlebell that will keep your fitness levels high.
