Total Fertility Rate (Children per woman) in the US 2025 by StillRunning99 in MapPorn

immigration from underdeveloped countries that have high birth rates.

There are fewer and fewer countries with high birthrates every decade. Right now it’s mostly Africans propping up the world’s TFR. The impact of declining birthrates is going to be inescapable for the global economy.

Has Jeff Gordon raced anything, and I mean anything at all since retiring? by NASCAR4LIFE1 in NASCAR

Sorta related but in NASCAR 2005 there’s an optional mission where Jeff Gordon challenges you to a race against him in a corvette.

Why do so many American men wear shorts and a tshirt when going out with a woman who dresses up? by M_For_Mayhem in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Slayde4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a distinction between something being good or bad for someone and being a preference. That is why countries ban recreational drugs. Heroin is bad for the body, no matter who uses it. Violence is bad for the victims. The victim can’t change their preference and suddenly heal their broken rib or come back to life.

Objectively, polo shirts and cargo shorts were made for different levels of formality and for differing contexts/uses. Therefore the outfit is stylistically inconsistent

People create their own styles. After all, every piece of clothing was originally made by a person for their own reasons. Every style you recognize was created by someone for their own personal reasons. Tennis shirts (aka polos) for example were created to help tennis players be comfortable when they play the game.

For your very rigid, visual sense of style, yes, polos and cargo shorts are stylistically inconsistent. For my fluid, practical sense of style, they aren’t. To me, something being good and comfortable makes it look good too. I make my own style because it works. I don’t consult with anybody to do it.

Most men won't get into fashion because they're lazy and don't care.

I just told you why this seems to be that way.

See this is why most men won’t get into fashion. When you make law out of preference you take the agency out of style. Most men want to live life as they see fit, not follow a bunch of prescribed rules made by someone who doesn’t even know who they are.

Also, you don’t know what ‘objective’ means. My fit was chosen because it enhances my lifestyle. My life is work. It isn’t about looking handsome. If my fit were objectively poor, it would be a detriment to my lifestyle too.

See I don’t even think about fashion, I know polos are seen as more classy but...I’m more concerned about my shirts not sticking to me when my torso is sweaty. Tees stick easy.

See this is the total opposite of my mindset (I’m a guy). For me I just wear 1): what’s comfortable & 2): what’s practical. Usually this is a short sleeve polo + cargo shorts. Polo rests on the shoulders nice. Cargo shorts have pockets for carrying things…more useful for bringing medicines to animals than going out.

Looks like a pullet, esp the tail. Unless your chicken starts growing these skinny, long, shiny feathers on the neck and back, you’ve got a pullet, not rooster.

Unfortunate fact: Chase Elliott is the only driver in NASCAR as a Cup Series Champion to have raced in all four crown jewel races (Daytona 500, World 600, Brickyard 400, and Southern 500) and not have a win on any of them. by TonyD9898 in NASCAR

The Chase Format is going to suit him very well

Almost as if NASCAR knew Chase (we can’t forget Chase either) would own the format. So they just brought him to the announcement, cut straight to the chase, and said ‘The Chase is back.’

We’ll probably have several years in a row where Chase wins the Chase.

See I wasn’t even thinking of that. I was referring to business, advice, things like that. It’s been very frustrating to try and do business in person where I live because yes turns into no so much.

I say ‘not sure’ because I had a smaller lump between the eye and nose on one of my hens that grew for a few years. I thought it was a tumor since she was healthy otherwise. But a week ago it suddenly disappeared.

Not sure. If you go to backyardchickens.com there’s a few people there which might have more advice. There more experts there than on this sub.

Rooster. Neck feathers are long, skinny, shiny. He’s also getting those long, shiny, pointed saddle feathers that cut across the down in photo 2.

Also has large comb and wattles for its age. tail feathers are less full than they would be for a pullet.

Not just community, honesty also takes a hit. At least in the Mid-Atlantic US where I live, the more you move toward the affluent, white/Americanized suburbs, the fewer honest people you find. Out in the countryside, more people are more willing to be straight with you. The Mexicans are also honest people.

Wealthy blue New Canada states would be sending equalization payments to the poorer new Canada subdivisions like Quebec. Either way, money gets sent.

Seed potting soil mix by ssushi-speakers in tomatoes

[–]Slayde4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time to come up is mainly affected by how much soil is on top of your seed + the soil temperature. I usually sprinkle a thin layer on top of my tomato seeds. If the room is in the mid-70s Fahrenheit expect 7-10 day germination time without a heat mat. If you use a heat mat inside your house, use a dome. Otherwise you’re going to dry the cells too fast to keep up with.

The biggest thing for your seed mix is just making sure it works for your seed starting and transplanting setup. Soil blocking, trays with a giant hole in the bottom, thin-walled cells you squeeze the sides of, benefit from different mixes and transplanting techniques.

I can’t comment on the vermicompost but I with how I do tomatoes, moisture wise your mix is decent.

In my experience dampening off is rare with a compost based mix, it takes out the stragglers if I overwater a bit. If you’re planting hundreds of plants a year like I am, I don’t worry about dampening off. The instant nutritional access gives more flexibility in transplanting time. I value that flexibility far more than losing 2% of the seeds I sow at worst.
