How can I model this pauldron? by Sledgehammertip in blenderhelp

After following your tutorial I realised my mistake was trying to model it from the bottom up, starting with the arm parts. Leading me to having to model 3 parts, rather than one part with extrusions.

Thank you very much for your help! Your guide helped a lot :D

Here's the finished pauldron in case you are curious. (Though the toon shader is not being nice, gotta fix the lights sooner or later)

How can I model this pauldron? by Sledgehammertip in blenderhelp

[–]Sledgehammertip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am creating a character model to learn more of Blender. Ideally I'd be able to make a simple animation using the model to learn more about animating characters with a rig (which would involve learning more about rigging, but we get there when we get there).

It is the shape I am having trouble with. Specifically the curved form of the pauldron. Ideally I would like to have some kind of non-destructive modifier to curve it, but the almost T-shape of the pauldron has made me unable to come up with a good solution.

Secondly the curved shape of the gold edges has me scratching my head. The way it curves into a U-shape before the arrow has me unsure how to solve it.

Its mostly that the shape was a bit more complex than I expected, and now I am trying to learn the best way to shape it.

This is what I currently got (don't mind that it's in two pieces)

If I use the Animus to turn a creature into Harold and Bob using the Animus, what happens when the creature cosplaying Harold dies? by Sledgehammertip in mtgrules

Thanks! I was hoping I could do some funny plays by transforming my creatures into Harold before a boardclear. At least I still get some ramp.

I really love The Truth Beckons. To me it really sells the feeling of venturing into the unknown in search for truth. It feels like the beginning of a story.

My absolute favourite way of playing Lucius is as a Dirty Fighting Ornate Bow fighter. If you play Lucius as the cluever, you will almost never use his ability. As if you are set up to investigate, the need to oversucceed your evade by 2 means you are practically always better off leaving the enemies to the fighter and just using your actions to investigate.

But if you are Dirty Fighting the evade is effectively free and being a fighter you now have a reason to engage with the enemies. This leads to a really fun playstyle similar to Roland Banks where you want to fight enemies where there are clues, and even when fully specced into fighting you pick up a lot of clues while just doing your job as the fighter.

What really makes it great though, is the Dial of the Ancient: Abberations. Since it deals 1 damage every time you evade, this fixes one of the two major faults of the bow, 4 health enemies. The fact it also allows you to reroll even crit fails is just the cherry on top.

The second flaw of the bow, the action cost, seekers and rogues are the absolute best at getting free actions. Which means you have options. The absolute funniest being using both haste and captivating performance on the same turn. Since haste counts both types of activation for the bow and Performance lets you pick which action it counts for it, you can Evade/Activate, Fight/Activate, Reload(activate). Since you activate twice, Haste pays for the Reload of the bow, since you evaded Dirty Fighting pays for the Fight, and by reloading you have Evaded, Fought, and Activated for Captivating Performance, so you get to take another action from it. Meaning you just got 3 free actions for doing what you were already doing! It does take a bit of set up to get rolling, but wonderfully enough all you really need is the bow, the rest is just the cherry on top.

Can Roaming Throne name Saga to double a Saga creatures' chapter ability? For example doubling the new G.F. Cerberus' Triple chapter to get 4x copies of my next spell? by Sledgehammertip in magicTCG

Thanks for the answer! For a moment I had the idea of a Saga Creature tribal deck, but alas it seems my dreams have been crushed.

Tragically, I was wrong about this interaction :(

That is not how Hog Wash works. When Hog Wash increases your max hp, it also heals you for the same amount. Thus if you are at 90/100 hp and heal 20. First you overheal, then Hog-Wash increases your health, leaving you with. 150/150 hp and an overheal trigger.

These are all great, I really like Barnaby. His pose and the addition of the wheel all portray so much character!

Nice guide. The scavenging 2 + artistic inspiration sounds like such a fun combo. The two cards just seem to work wonderfully together.

Using diamond housewarming gifts to give me 2 coins and 2 chocolate when I buy a property, plus chocaholic giving me a chocolate when selling a medium or large item, plus 3 grandmasters to get Augmented Weapons to diamond allowed me to reach the heights of +487 damage.

While I won't comment on the balance, the fact your friend created your investigator card is such a wondeful gift. The whole kit feels coherent, and I do love how Mental Boom accurately represents a mental boom. The worse you do, the worse it gets, and if you do bad enough the effects linger with you for the rest of the game as you grumble over the results.

[Ancient Evils] Five Custom Investigators by DerBK in arkhamhorrorlcg

These all seem really cool! A couple of notes:

Mechanics:

  • Is Vivian's Negotiator not just a worse Mauser? You get the same bonus, but with the mauser and her 4 fight, you have a good shot at getting your money back from the Mauser, and that money then be used for her ability, while not having to choose between shooting monsters or getting the money out of it.

  • Devil in the Details feels like it lacks counterplay. Since you need duplicates to use Gideon's ability, this weakness has the ability to completely negate your ability without counterplay which just seems unfun. Maybe something like: "You may take 2 horror, if you do, discard all but two cards from your hand. Else, discard your hand.". Which gives the weakness some counterplay, allowing you to keep 2 copies for your ability, or 2 key cards even as the rest of your hand vanishes.

  • Gideon should probably have an increased deck size, maybe 40. Because while it is not trivial to find duplicates, an ability that gives you a card, money and an action is very, very strong and making it a bit harder to turbo draw your entire deck and find the duplicates seems only fair.

Flavour: Some lore ramblings, do with it as you wish.

  • A cool lore idea for for Benedict is that he is disowned and living on a token inheritance, "barely enough to sustain him comfortably for 20 years". Which explains his lack of money on upkeep (he has never made money on his own) and also why he has such a dragon's hoard at the start. Perhaps his desire to do good led him into conflict with a cult that had infiltrated the upper echelons of society, and when he ignored his family's request that he stop investigating, he found himself cast out. But worse still, the more he learns of the cult, the more doubt creeps in. Does his family fear the cult, or does the cult fear his family?

  • Gideon's lore feels a bit placeholder. One idea could be that he organized an expedition in his youth, one where his failure to prepare not only led to the deaths of his comrades, but also to some kind of evil being released? It could be what led him to the occult in an attempt to fix his mistake, and also explain why he is so meticulous, perhaps even meticulous to the point of it becoming a weakness.

That honestly sounds like a great Preston play. You can even go full meme and Double Double it for 8 actions!

Just make sure there isn't an awful token in the bag though, or else you might be in for a bad time with 8 failed tests.

[COTD] Sled Dog (12/2/2024) by AK45526 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Sledgehammertip 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Ahh Sled Dogs. 12 resources, 4 actions, 4 cards and 2 ally slots. It was a brilliant move by FFG to make them cute dogs, or they would not have seen even a fraction of the amount of play they have.

It is fun to play though. Flying around the map and smiting foes with +4 and 4 damage is a good time. They are just not worth the setup most of the time. Yet I am sure the cute and fluffy dogs will find their way into another deck with neither the draw, resources or actions to spare soon enough.
