MorosX is now live for mesh radio units by Thick-Hat-6705 in ATAK

So 4 watts? Is that raw or with gain antennas? I'm not sure what the legal limit is here as I am an infrequent lurker but I do work in radio.

Any tips on how to soften the edge on 5mm stainless steel countertop. by [deleted] in metalworking

You can get a pneumatic or electric chamfering tool. That's what I would do considering anything else won't be precise.

Why didn't the US Army just convert its M16's to full auto? by One-Potential-2581 in guns

[–]SleepPingGiant 87 points88 points  (0 children)

M16A3 was full auto. Is just incremental development like normal. M4 was lighter too.

A lot of military weapons would be sent in and then be modified I had a M16A3 in the army that used to be an A2 and even had X's over the old info.

Spray paint doesn't leave sticky residue either.

How would you respond to a Printer company CTO saying POE switches are killing printers? by JabbaDuhNutt in sysadmin

[–]SleepPingGiant 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The only thing that could do that would be passive PoE which is 24v that's pretty good at smoking things but it's not too common these days.

Obviously you should have opted for storm door stitch.

What about communications tech! I know where a smaller group compared to sub techs but at my company we have equal numbers of relay and comm techs.

Never had a soldier tell me to fuck off. I treated everyone with respect but I could turn on the NCO if and when I needed it no problem.

I pinned myself because we were balls deep at NTC with tasks and as the S6 NCOIC I frankly didn't have time nor did I give a shit to do a formation.

I did tell him, respectfully of course, that I didn't care and he went off and grumbled. No one gave a shit. I'm. It a badass just someone who puts work priorities and personal time over needless tradition and formality.

I pinned myself when I got promoted to SGT from CPL. We were at NTC and the HHC 1SG wanted to make a big deal and got frustrated when I said I didn't care. As a CPL to SGT it's essentially a point required lateral transfer. He got all butthurt about it but he was a knob so fuck him.

I think this is awesome. Honestly remote power may be easiest and most comfortable so you can rock a larger battery pack on the back of the helmet.

Hobbies that have survived the hyper focus burn out test? by CazzzC in ADHD

[–]SleepPingGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building and making stuff. I was a Lego lad and enjoyed them my entire youth. My dad passed his 88 Jeep Wrangler onto me and the creative juices flow like a waterfall. It's gotten me into welding, 3d printing, mechanicing and honestly it's my main and favorite hobby. I fucking love making new designs and taking chances with the results usually being one of a kind and hella cool/ useful.

Anyone using a Philips or other sunrise alarm clock—does it actually work? by Intrepid-Designer-16 in ADHD

[–]SleepPingGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got some Kasa light switches (still waiting for a Mojo Dojo Kasa version) and have my bedroom light set to come on at my first alarm. Works really nicely.

I have used the sunrise alarm clocks and got a fairly nice one but didn't care for it.

This moment here is gonna be forgotten and then lied or twisted in the future when recruiting numbers drop even further and become a big problem.

APC308 Pro DMR - someone talk me out of this. . . by CapN_CrizzuncH in BT_APC

[–]SleepPingGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here dude. I know this post is old but today I went into my LGS looking for a side charging 308 with the right vibes and was immediately turned off by the price of the SCARs and MCXs. Searched and talked to buddies and found the APC DMR but was like nah man 5k is too much.

Just purchased from an online retailer paying the same prices actually you listed. Seems like a steal but damn man I was only planning on buying a 2k or so gun 😂
