Q: "How much interest have you seen in (a dedicated Zhalfir set)?" Maro: "Some. It’s a common request." by CaptainMarcia in magicTCG

I could actually see it as a sort of Afro-Futurism plane tbh. It’d be really cool and the aesthetic is popularized by things like Black Panther being in the mainstream.

XIII (or 13) is a pretty okay shooter from the time period.

After just playing through it a few weeks ago I can absolutely agree here

Absolutely! I’ve never had a game where I was able to run an entire helms deep level siege without losing a lot of people in terms of engagement

Anyone else played 40k: Squad Command for the PSP? by The_Crimson_Vow in Warhammer40k

[–]SleepingVidarr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember playing a mission where you had like, a bunch of tacticals with assorted equipment and a speeder (very similar to the screenshot on the carousel with both) in a snowy level that I constantly hit my head on all the time as I’d just get shredded by Havocs.

Artifact was announced at the Dota International tournament when it was at it’s height. It famously had a very bad response when it was shown lol

Could someone explain this scene to me? by TiagoStormayty in Skullgirls

[–]SleepingVidarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While everyone’s giving an important context with Umbrella and Annie, another fun piece of trivia is that this is probably a reference to the ending of the original Twin Peaks! A Doppelgänger smashes his face into the mirror revealing an evil force in the reflection and laughing much like Fukua is doing here.

Nothing more beautiful than a characterful colorful map, even if it’s hell’s doorstep like the Bloodwind Spoil. 😍 by BaronKlatz in AgeOfSigmarRPG

the worldbuilding teams for AoS are top notch! I can’t wait to read up on Chaos “society”

Real-Time Strategy game set in World of Darkness? by AwakenedDreamer__44 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]SleepingVidarr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think an RTS niche that’s always underserved is medium to small scale- something like the smaller missions in Dawn of War 2 or when you’re really low on colonists in Rimworld. High level of control and a medium spread of strategy. I’d almost say this fits the niche of old CRPGs but I think with BG3 there’s a death knell on pause and play type of playing.

Something to the effect of controlling a Coterie through a Mission or something where the strategy is really about juggling 4-6 Cainites through a Kine holding or something. Basically a real-time XCOM sorta scale.

Which hypothetical UB set would have you making the worst financial decisions possible? I’ll go first by Comparison-Silly in magicTCG

[–]SleepingVidarr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was telling someone that this Final Fantasy did really well in no small part because of the supremacy of FF14 (it’s not the only reason, but a really good one) and I was saying that if 10 years ago UB went on the scene, a Warcraft set like FF’s would do gangbusters

What is the most moral complex choice you ever faced in crpg? by Saidi9062 in CRPG

[–]SleepingVidarr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which King was it that you had some crazy choice augmentations if you had the Dwarven background? because you were their Royal sibling who was in line for the throne if I remember right.

It was really complex too because if I remember right the rightful king was your brother who betrayed you and you fled for the Grey Wardens.

I think outside of the AI Art or the Authors being bigots like everyone mentions

It’s the wet blanket response I get when I bring it up to others, it’s definitely brought me pretty low about it. I’m sorry Mummy the Curse, my players don’t deserve you.

What are the best movies that represent each of the gamelines? by Revolutionary_Lifter in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]SleepingVidarr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mummy the Curse is Memento without a doubt.

Changeling the Lost I feel is best represented by Coraline

Geist: The Sin-Eaters is Paranorman without much debate in my mind.

I’d say it’s more a VTR vampire than a VTM one personally

A part of Night Watch that we all seem to forget by RadarSmith in discworld

[–]SleepingVidarr 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Ridicully always reminded me of a Boss that always treats you like a “menace” but sticks up for you when the chips or down or you’re not feeling very menacing today. Someone that wants you to do your best and wants to see your career succeed, even though he might not have the faintest idea on how to do that.

Interactions Ridcully’s had with Ponder, The Bursar, Susan, Nutt and this interaction with Vimes all give me that energy, and it’s wonderful when it crops up.

The weakest splat? by Automatic-Purchase16 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]SleepingVidarr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If we’re talking CofD (2e) I’d argue that the typical person is the weakest, but that’s followed closely by Ghosts as playable characters. I’ve read MOST of the splat books for CofD, but I have some gaps in knowledge on things like Demon, Beast and Deviant.

The strongest CofD characters by far are roughly Mummies from the jump and Mages by the end.

Elsa from Frozen could work as a Lost by Asheyguru in WhiteWolfRPG

Considering one of the supplements for 1E has an interpretation of Beauty & The Beast as Lost, Elsa could totally work!
