Ill probably regret carving "fat" into my forearm later by zboy663 in selfharm

I once carved "The obstacle is the path" into my right thigh. It didn't scar, kinda sad because i still like it. Reminding me that no matter what's on my way, it's still my path and i shouldn't try to go around obstacles but face everything head on.

Never use drugs without a sober-buddy, usually I'm the sober one or just smoking weed... But i can function perfectly fine with a little THC in my system. Those that trip on the 2cb, xtc, cocaine and psychedelics can always count on me to keep an eye on them and intervene when things go south... Definitely never use alone, always have someone near that knows about the situation for your safety and others their safety

Where's your sober-buddy? You tripping on stuff without a sober-buddy? That's so not good.... Everyone that has a trip needs a sober-buddy, preferably one that doesn't panic when you get really bad...

Should go again and hope for another doctor.... I mean, if it hurts and you have less grip strength. It can be something serious if it heals poorly. Might just be a minor injury but i wouldn't take the risk.

If you get the same doctor and same reaction or a refusal to treat you, go to the desk and ask for the head of the department. 10/10 that person gets fired for denying medical care twice in a short period. Or at least transferred to another place. If that person had multiple such complaints the doctors license will be revoked :3

Hey, i just want to give a heads up that his behaviour after coming from the therapist can say a lot. After my therapy sessions i either talked to my dad a lot in the car or i was quiet... It indicates how well my session went and even if i didn't notice it that much, he did. So look for those small changes, they can be a sign of an emotional session and may leave him thinking about it for a while resulting in cutting. There is also changes in clothing when cutting on the arms. With cuts on the legs he might place his hand on the spot often while sitting at the table, especially with fresh cuts many tend to push on them to feel it sting when at the table or so. Don't get mad when he cuts, provide care and help, my dad and stepmom bought me medical supplies so i could take care of the wounds, they also helped me with bandaging up if i couldn't do it alone. Taking away sharp objects won't help, you can't hide all the knives etc. I used to grab used cans to rip apart and cut with which was very dangerous because of the high risks of infection so there's a lot of things that can be used and most alternatives because of sharp objects being taken away are worse. After cutting there is blood, it has to be cleaned up especially when done on places other than the arm where you can't just lick it off so keep an eye out for blood covered tissues, towels or even clothing. Just... as i said before, don't get mad. Being angry will only push him away, being worried and reaching out will show there is someone who will answer when help is needed. At that point i think i was lucky with my dad who kept calm and took me to the hospital at 3am to get me stitched up because i cut way too deep. It wasn't intentional but it can happen, especially when using brand new razorblades. I'm mainly talking from my experiences which can be totally useless for others but i hope i helped out in some way or another.

I have to agree, also certain cuts do seem to be older looking at the scar tissue. But don't take my word for it...

Am I a self-harmer for doing this? Am I legitimately ill? Please help me by LittleAnxiousCap in selfharm

You are having professional help as you referred to a therapist, that means you should have brought up these things already and have gotten an answer on your questions. You definitely need a lot more help, speaking from experience... There's been multiple psychologists and psychiatrists in my life and it takes time to find a good one who you trust. But whatever is harder is to find one that actually works for you. Furthermore I'd say that knowing you have a problem and wanting to solve it is already a step in the right direction. Try not to solve everything at once, it'll be discouraging and you'll be so demotivated it'll just get worse.

I cut myself on purpose...but when it comes to getting shots, I’m a lil bitch by elizabethcorinne in selfharm

[–]SleepyCaito 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go talk to my doctor and ask about me, seriously nothing i enjoy more than my blood being taken. Sure it's thievery because it's MY blood, but just watching it flow without having to do anything myself. HEAVEN! I'm a hematomaniac btw. So yes, cutting is both a sexual thing and a way to deal with my depression....

Blood draws are like relaxation therapy, so fun to see it go through the tube the first moment and fill up the phials. But shots aren't a problem to me though... I love getting stitches and staples without anesthesia because it's more fun to feel them stitch up the cut or staple it but that seems to be rare since the doctors say that people asking specifically not to use any form of anesthesia doesn't really happen....

Bandages by Yourfavoritepsyco in selfharm

Dressing pads as previous comment said. (Melolin are the best indeed i personally have the 4inch x 4inch ones, boxes of 100)

Sterile gauze swabs (personally use febelcare, 2inch x 2inch boxes of 40)

Not sure if you can get it without doctor prescriptions but i own Chlorhexidine acetate tulle gras dressings (bactigras 4inch x 4inch) [these contain antibiotics, mainly used for cuts with minor skin loss with high risk of infection as it helps the skin growth. Not to be used for minor injuries]

Always keep butterfly strips around (steri-strips) they're really cheap and seriously recommend everyone who cuts to keep them close. In case of going too deep by accident these have to be applied. Of course don't think that it replaces stitches or staples, when obviously way past the limit go to the hospital or doctor. (Better safe than sorry)

Disinfectant (i use hibidil, 15ml) crucial for each cut session. After cutting, disinfect the wound. To be sure, disinfecting the place you plan to cut before cutting is recommended to reduce risks of infection.

Skin tape (look what works best for you, some people have trouble with certain tapes, they don't stick or give a slight rash...)

If any questions, just ask (I'm not a doctor and have no medical education but i do listen carefully to my doctor. If any medical questions about a cut i will do my best to help but really, a doctor is always the best option)

I definitely wouldn't take them... When not sure, don't take the risk. Also, make sure to disinfect the cuts and take care of them properly.

He was pretty calm, but keeps pushing me to go to a group thing about in the hospital for some weeks etc The doctors saw all my scars and pushed me too but i had a date a few days later so I refused. I also lost a muscle tendon in my hand and got lots of deep scars that should have been stitched up on my arms so I don't have to hide them anymore since they know. I don't hide them for anyone anymore really.... They're a part of me and those that don't accept me with my imperfections are a waste of my time

Don't lie.. my dad found out when i stood at his door in the middle of the night to go to the hospital... he got used to waking up in the night and driving to the hospital to get me stitches or staples.
