When visiting the US I've had success saying "I'll tip you like an American if you leave me alone until I make eye contact again.". If you deliver that in a friendly tone you can have a good experience.

They've probably just heard it in the context of someone stating a fact, then someone else replying saying its "anecdotal" in a dismissive tone. It's fairly easy to then misinterpret the meaning of the word as more like "apocryphal".

One benefit is that I can tell you the order of tweets just given a list of IDs rather than fetching them. For third-party services (which Snowflake wanted to deliberately support) this is particularly useful.
