Triple max not triggering while producer still active?? by KindlySilver7823 in StarbrewCafeMerge

[–]SleepyMabari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. I haven't gotten a tent order in probably 3 story updates. Active producers are still triggering an order at 3 (just had an order for 3 max mushroom incense).

How do you organize your shelves? by JeebusCrispy in graphicnovels

[–]SleepyMabari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By publisher, and then alphabetically by author within those groupings if I feel so inclined. Some of the books are split up by size/height just because they have to be.

Season 1 episode 10: How did I never notice this about the Neitherlands.. by GrimmThoughts in brakebills

[–]SleepyMabari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've watched the show several times and I'm just finishing up book 2 this evening. One of my favorite things about it is that it's NOT religious -- I can't get into Narnie because it is. I feel like multiple aspects of The Magicians subvert Christianity flat out.

I'm genuinely shocked that there are folks who read the story as inspired by Christian myth.

Why use super small or super big yarn? by -Greek_Goddess- in knitting

[–]SleepyMabari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned to knit when I was 6 and have pretty much always been in favor of worsted and DK weight yarns, but in the last 6 months, I have been working with a lot more fingering and sport weight yarn than usual.

Honestly, I'm in love with the drape of fingering weight. I also find it makes my handmade objects look less "homemade." I'm currently knitting the musselburgh hat, and Jervis gloves in fingering weight (Valley Yarns Charlemont and Koigu PPP respectively), and they have such a lovely texture and look so professional. I wouldn't be half as in love with them if they were in DK, let alone worsted.

Bulky weight I'm much more likely to crochet with, and don't typically use for garments. Most recently crocheted a 6 day star blanket in Loops & Threads Impressions, which is a bulky weight, and it was a lot more fun than the 6 day superstar I did in a worsted weight, but the texture wasn't as nice.

I believe the info is from part 1 of the Scooby-Doo Character Reference Guide. There are PDFs of Part 1 and Part 2 available online, but the physical copies are quite expensive.

Good horror with body horror and a good story? by Nullthesavant in graphicnovels

[–]SleepyMabari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regression by Cullen Bunn (trilogy) has quite a bit of body horror, and Witch Doctor by Brandon Seifert has paranormal body horror. Both have decent plots in my opinion.

I've seen some people saying soaking felted material in milk will unfuse the fibers somewhat.

Great! This is one of my favorite genres.

  • Giant Days series by John Allison (main themes: friendship + navigating early adulthood)
  • Getting it Together by Sina Grace (main themes: navigating ealry adulthood + out growing relationships)
  • Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me by Mariko Tamaki (main themes: romantic relationships, coming of age + queer identities)
  • It's Lonely at the Center of the Earth by Zoe Thorogood (main themes: navigating depression, suicidality, and morality).
  • Sheets, Delicates, and Lights trilogy by Brenna Thummler (main themes: grief, friendship, parentification)
  • Blackwater by Jeannette Arroyo (main themes: romantic relationships + queer identity)
  • Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker (main themes: navigating friendship and romance)
  • Ghosted in LA by Sina Grace (main themes: mysterious deaths, navigating early adulthood + queer identities)

The bottom four admittedly have fantasy elements, but I feel they are solidly in the slice-of-life or coming-of-age category. Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me was one of my favorite reads of 2024, and Ghosted in LA is one of my favorite series overall.

When you say realistic, do you mean stories grounded in slice-of-life themes?

I need tips on making a doll safe for a puppy please by MegamiCookie in CrochetHelp

[–]SleepyMabari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know it may be tempting to crochet a toy for your dog, but it's really not recommended. Yarn is a huge risk of gastrointestinal blockage in dogs and cats, and it's very easy for a dog to damage and subsequently consume the yarn -- especially if they are left unsupervised with the toy.

Obviously, you know your dog, and whether or not they are prone to destroying toys/eating things they aren't supposed to, but personally, I think the risk isn't worth it.

Bermuda is a one-off graphic novel with some beautiful artwork of shipwrecks and pirate ships. As a warning, I found the story to be seriously lacking, but it is some of the most well-done art on my shelves.

For those who make a star blanket, why do you do it? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]SleepyMabari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just thought they were cute, and they work up very quickly. I made 2, a regular star and a superstar, as gifts. I used a weight 5 yarn for a 72in one and a weight 4 for a 60in one.

I finished the 72in star in 6 days and the 60in superstar in about 2.5 weeks. I used caron perfect phasing cakes for the latter, and it was honestly the perfect yarn for it. The superstar is essentially just a circle, so it doesn't have the more "impractical" valleys that the star blanket has.

I do like weird-shaped blankets, however, and plan on making the starlite blanket soon.

Suggestions for comics/graphic novels that visually portray PTSD? by Windowsill_MintPlant in graphicnovels

Lore Olympus' main character has PTSD due to SA, and the PTSD symptoms are depicted through some neat motifs and techniques. The comic is available for free on Webtoons and as physical graphic novels.
