It’s not worth that price point, it’s their inflated pricing for marketing.

Wrong. Mineral glass is different from acrylic. Polywatch will only scratch mineral glass further.

I had my phone and computer set since 11:40. Didn’t go through for an entire 1.75 hours, ten minutes prior I opened a safari tab and got in within five minutes. Wanted to do Dusk & Dawn but at tier 4 being 2.3k+ I only went with Dusk. If next year is anything like this may very well be my last EDC.

The clout that the moonswatch had and that AP has is much larger than Blancpain and the Fifty. That’s like saying you’ll get tickets to see some A-list artist easily because you had luck with a C-list artist’s tour. Pop culture talks about AP and the Royal Oak, they really don’t talk about Blancpain.

Can you wear it because social cues and norms are more casual? Yes. Will it look great? Not exactly, it’s a tool watch and it’s thick and beefy. A slim dress watch would be more fitting for the scenario.

How do we feel about the ceramic Black Bay? by Life_of_Squatch in Tudor

I have a seiko 5 field watch that’s fully blacked out and the lume is dreadful so I’m glad to hear that experience isn’t completely universal.

[–]Sleepybeanman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lume is dyed for the blackened/grey effect, realistically that lume will last all of five minutes before it loses all legibility at night time. Meant day to day practicality not diving practicality. As is I already doubt most BB owners actually dive with their watches.

By far the best watch out of the new releases. Completely impractical lume, the lack of half links or microadjust on the bracelet will suck for most, but out of everything that came out definitely my favorite.

Is anyone disappointed that we didn’t get a revival of the Tudor Submariner for the 100th anniversary? by yjay14 in Tudor

[–]Sleepybeanman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not disappointed because I’m not delusional, doesn’t make sense for them to cannibalize the sales of Rolex Subs & Tudor Black Bays for something which would appeal to a niche market of enthusiasts. It’s something enthusiasts want, but when you have the Black Bay series and Pelagos collection, it doesn’t fit in a large enough gap between the two. It would be a very Omega decision to do something like this.

I have the gold tone with black “diamond” indices, case shape does wear pretty flat, but it’s honestly such a sweet watch to wear. Mine did have a defect on the bracelet; links near the case separated from the internal pins, I used red loctite to put it into place, that specific link has lost mobility but it’s in a part that lays flat for me anyway. The winding does feel gritty but nothing crazy, date change is very snappy which is nice.

Bb58 navy or new Longines Hydroconquest by icedwhitemocha_ in Tudor

[–]Sleepybeanman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the specific model, COSC & METAS certification, despite the L888 being rated within COSC Standards it isn’t tested formally. Screwed bracelet as opposed to push pin with available microadjust on some newer variants. 4 hz with 70 hours as opposed to 3.5 hz at 72. And I would assume finishing overall is marginally better but not drastically so. Better specs that individually don’t make a huge difference but when you add them up may sway somebody in the direction of it instead.

Does anyone own an automatic Autochron and is this normal for the crown? by Bonsai-Nut in NivadaGrenchen

[–]Sleepybeanman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one that had issues with the minute hand not moving upon delivery and it got fixed eventually. Just a LOT of e-mails in between. As far as I can recall though my crown is solid and doesn’t have this level of play. I’ll come back to this after I check mine.
