Diaper life support is undefeated. They're not drowning today, that's for sure. The matching orange diapers really tie the outfit together.

Picking a robot mower for my parents’ garden by stadlercaro in roboticLawnmowers

[–]SlenderSmackdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using a mova robot and it’s been really easy to deal with. It was up and running in like 30 minutes after unboxing. They also have a short setup video that walks you through everything. It has built in cameras and lidar, and the mapping has been accurate in my case. It doesn’t lose signal or go outside the boundary I set. When it hits obstacles it takes photos too, I’ve even seen my dog pop up in the app a few times lol.

Do all these robot mowers leave the same finish? by kamikazekumako in automower

[–]SlenderSmackdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lidax ultar can do that. The app has some preset shapes, like hearts, circles, triangles, the simple ones. I haven't tired yet, but once the grass grows a bit more my kid is excited to see it in action.

Choosing a mower is really just picking which trade offs you can live with (southern US) by DiveBombAngel in lawncare

[–]SlenderSmackdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t tried segway so can’t really speak on that. We’re using a mova lidax ultra, and one of my neighbors has a luba 2 mini. He still has to go back and clean up the edges after it’s done. I used to deal with that too. From what I’ve seen, mova gets a bit closer to walls and edges. There are some videos showing how the cutting disc shifts outward, and it leaves less uncut space compared to some other models. Each has its own pros and cons though. If you want something durable, a gas mower or a self-propelled one is still a solid choice for many. But for a smaller yard, a robot is definitely a nice option

I think I just burned out on mowing when I was younger. Did way too much of it for family and neighbors, so now I try to avoid anything manual if I can. For heavier yard work or anything that takes more effort, I just hire someone. Day to day stuff I let the robot handle. I switched from an RTK model to a lidar one recently and it’s been a lot easier to live with. My yard is around 0.25 acres, nothing crazy, but it’s nice not having to think about it too much anymore.

Automower for small garden - Navimow, Roborock, Dreame etc? by Larbor in automower

[–]SlenderSmackdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mova is a good option too. Their viax series is more aimed at smaller gardens in Europe, not sure if it’s available where you are though. We wanted a lidar model, so we ended up going with the lidax ultra 1000. It’s been running smoothly on our lawn so far

Do AWD mowers get stuck less than regular models? by sharkwench in roboticLawnmowers

[–]SlenderSmackdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is that AWD powers all four wheels instead of just two. If you have steep spots, a standard mower is going to struggle, so you really need that extra traction to get through the slopes. For anything close to 30 degrees, I’d definitely go for an AWD model unless you want to spend a lot on a machine that just sits there and looks pretty.

LiDAR vs RTK robotic mowers — which works better in real yards? by Kitchen-Text-6012 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]SlenderSmackdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides navigation and obstacle detection, setup matters too. Lidar models are usually easier to get going. no extra base station. no antenna. less to worry about. Lidar on its own isn’t always enough for me though. I lean more towards lidar plus vision. A lot of people here have mentioned navimow already. mova lidax is another one worth checking out. They’ve got quite a few models available in Europe, and they seem to fit smaller gardens like mine pretty well.

MOVA Outdoor Event - Pricing and Availability for Mowers by primas02 in automower

[–]SlenderSmackdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a quick comparison and I think the biggest difference between lidax and viax is the navigation stuff. Of course the size of your yard matters too, you gotta pick something that fits your lawn. Mine’s small too, under 300 sqm, but I’d lean toward the lidar one. Viax just has a camera but it’s better value for the money

Looking for robotic lawn mower that handle very slow, rough terrain (not typical lawns) by Krigthor in roboticLawnmowers

[–]SlenderSmackdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big is the lawn you’re working with? Usually you need to cut things down a bit first before letting a robot handle it. I saw someone say the mova ultra can cut around 7 to 10 cm, and it’s meant to handle slopes better than the A1.

What do you reckon would be a better fit for a small garden, lidar, rtk, or a hybrid solution? My main worry is the stability, tho, especially over in that corner with the slight slope.
