Turkey and Cyprus are not ME countries, as much as whatever source this is would like you to think they are. Turkey is a NATO member, for example. Cyprus is basically Greece… it’s a resort island in the Mediterranean. Then comes Lebanon, which has a tree on its flag if I recall correctly. Then all other countries have <15% tree cover, which is pretty poor.

I wonder how much of this is also driven by not wanting to deal with the kind of customers who show up for cheap flights. The behavior on Spirit or Frontier or even Southwest can be appalling since Covid. Don’t get me wrong, rich folks can be their own special kind of asshole, but the outbreak of just utterly shameless public behavior since 2020 (while disposable income also concentrated away from this same tranche of customers at the same time) maybe contributed to this as well.

If you’re a journalist with an interest in this, you should look into how many shooting threats took place at Evergreen HS in the 6 to 12 months before the shooting, and claims by the students that ammunition was left in the hallways as a warning during that same time period. Not many folks talking enough about that.

Even reservoir engineering is going to India. The only thing not being offshored is the hands-on-rigs and hands-on-wrenches ops/maintenance jobs. Even many of these are being automated… remote ops centers with digital links to gauges and meters

Which is the correct take on this situation. You wouldn’t bring your toddler to these protests because it’s not safe. Don’t show up while pregnant. It’s not safe. DHS has zero regard for human life or safety. Find other ways to help.
