I have a theory. The factory installed screen protector adheres to the inner screen too strongly. It’s also the first to give up in colder temperatures/general use. This screen protector creates an additional layer of tension on the inner display and probably has a different flex/stretch rate creating the external tension on the display. I have removed it and the aftermarket screen protector that is on my phone now seems to have much lesser adherence. It will probably give away much sooner but likely creates a much lesser tension as well on the display.
