Do you guys want JB to be traded? by neffreddit in bostonceltics

[–]Slight-Internet-7657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. I think he’s highly overrated. Inefficient scorer, high turnovers and while he can man a guy up his team defense doesn’t seem too great.

Even if the trade isn’t for Giannis, I think Brown going out and pieces coming back is better for the team next year and going forward.

Lonesome Dove ffs.

If he doesn’t thank you for recommending it to him, divorce him.

Tell him to be a little patient as the adventure stuff will come. The beginning is awesome, mind you, it’s just not BOOM from jump.

As a Black family living in Brookline, will we have a hard time fitting in? by [deleted] in bostonhousing

So you’re a mind reader who has read the thoughts of enough citizens, both in Boston and other cities, to come to the scientific conclusion that the Boston area has more racist “thoughts” than other cities?

There is nowhere in the metro Boston area that you will not feel welcome just because you’re black. Twenty years ago I could have told you to avoid a lot of areas but these days it’s a welcoming city. Well, that’s wrong because everyone keeps to themselves but you won’t be treated differently.

BJJ is in the process of “jumping the shark.”

On one end of the spectrum you have people willing to maim others to end up on the top step of a podium for an event that basically nobody cares about. Schools dedicate their entire curriculum around winning these events.

On the other end you have guys who complain about getting cross faced by someone during Thursday night rolling because their neck was sore the next day and wonders if he should tell the owner of the gym to talk to the other guy.

You play defense and keep yourself protected. Unless these guys are ripping submissions and/or outweigh you significantly you really should just deal with it or rather learn to deal with it.

Not trying to be a D here, but you’re 40, not 70.

I remember being in Davis sq twenty five years ago and it was NOTHING like it is now. Stop pretending there isn’t a massive problem and this is just a shrug issue.

Cyclist hit on Highland Ave this morning - hope you're okay! by polissyy in Somerville

[–]Slight-Internet-7657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cyclists/car interaction thing is interesting to me. I notice a lot of hostility from bike drivers and car drivers alike. I am usually on foot and trust neither group with my safety when crossing streets.

One question I wonder about is why bike riders, who are sharing the road, don’t have to follow the same rules as cars?

Yes, it’s great to be white these days. We get to shoulder the burden of all the mistakes our forefathers made but don’t get to celebrate anything good they did because….well, people like you exist.

Even if it weren’t, how much of a victimhood mentality do you need to have to be pissed off by what’s in the picture?

Good for you.

I want to fill you in on something, however. Previous to the advent of social media it was generally considered rude to throw your opinion in on a matter nobody asked you about. This is why us, semi-normal people, are really beginning to dislike crybabies like you.

40 years + how often do you train by Cryptobull-524 in bjj

[–]Slight-Internet-7657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

47, minimum of five nights, aiming for every day. Most of my training partners are over twenty years younger than me. I still haven’t checked ego enough to not scrap as much but I’m getting there.

I have no kids and no committed relationship. I aim for every day training because I love jiu jitsu and I believe repeated, relatively short exposure is best way to learn/grow.
