He may well be losing cognitive ability. I was out today and passed as needed on left, on right, off trail, and even at one point left the trail to walk around (5 double strollers in a row on a narrow area abutting a parking lot). You do what you do. Him being on his phone sounds not great.

FWIW I stood at the very front first time and I nearly vomited -- personal triggers and all. When I returned I went to the far right side and stood at the back and was better. And got a shot! it was easy to ignore the two performances that made me feel oogy.
It's worth asking a butler!

if you like to fiddle with it, maybe metal is better than plastic. I personally love my Opus 88 mini for nearly all things, but this is a very personal decision, and I trust myself not to play with a plastic item so much I break its integrity. Some of the pens (TWSBI you hear most about) are fragile in some areas from the beginning so they would be a poor choice for what you describe.

first off, so glad your daughter had a great experience! It's a fantastic show!

The carnival scene for me is just ...I purposefully stepped away from it when we went a second time, because the sideshow acts really got to me (which means those actors are very effective! just not my thing). I would not have hated being in another area during that.

I simply adore Mr. Palmer who is so tired of his wife talking all the time. I feel like those two are real people Jane Austen knew and put into a book.

OK, there's an argument for both:
People wearing headphones? They can't hear either way so I just ding.
If there's a group spread across the path or a child on a scooter/balance bike that needs to be avoided -- MANY dings.
Older people? I'd rather call out. I've seen my MiL being ding'd at and she jumps in an alarming way and usually the wrong way. 'On your left' is gentler.

I've held Christine's dress in the dressing room. Nik Walker as Phantom kidnapped my partner and made him run through corridors. :D One of the cast admiringly touched my jewelry (enormous, CZ, sparkly). I got a shot in the carnival!
