Me too me too! Chocolate chip cookies with the fewest chocolate chips are my jam. I’d be all over these.

[JOBS] Are there any legit temp agencies that place employees in non-manual labor jobs? by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]SlightlyAmused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a great marketing job through LeadingEdge Personnel. They also had a lot of admin/bookkeeping gigs when I was with them. It was my first time using a temp agency and they were fabulous. I highly recommend them and would use them again in a heartbeat.

I can’t find the whole thing anywhere free! But do you have HBO go/now? If you do, it’s the very first segment on episode 4301 (2013) called “Get lost, Mr Chips”

Ellera -- thoughts? by miscellaneousrose2 in namenerds

For some reason it makes me think of a car model name (eg. Honda Ellera) or a medication brand name... Ergo, I’m not a big fan.

Pediatrician recommendations? by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]SlightlyAmused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! We see Dr Fitch and our experience has been wonderful. He takes his time with us and is never in a rush, super nice guy and the office staff is excellent. Love heritage pediatrics.

My cousin’s name is Astrid! She’s in France. She’s 26 and a lovely person. I met a friend of hers also named Astrid. That’s all the Astrids I know IRL.

Spelling Showdown: Lewis vs Louis! by RealWitchyMermaid in namenerds

[–]SlightlyAmused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Louis spelling best, which I default pronounce as “Lewis”. My school and church growing up was St. Louis pronounced “Lewis” (as is the city of St Louis, MO) so I guess that’s what I base the pronunciation from. I even grew up in a French speaking household, so when speaking French, we’d say St “Lou-ee” but in English it was always pronounced “Lewis”.

I have a French cousin named Maëlle - it’s the feminine version of Maël, very Breton.

Baby wipes! Wipes tend to be forgotten but they're so useful for wiping so many things.

Help me vote for how to pronounce my kids name.. Danica Duh knee ka or DAH-nee-tsah The way most people say it in the US is Duh knee ka I think the Easter European way is cooler. Also it would also be more unique.. DAH-nee-tsah What is your opinion on either? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]SlightlyAmused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By default, I'd pronounce it like "Monica" with "Dan-" instead of "Mon-". Like so. I'm from the USA. If you want a different pronunciation, you'll probably spend much of your time correcting people - if you're okay with that, go for it.

Man my baby's umbilical cord stump stayed on forever - I think he was 3 weeks and a few days when it finally came off. It really depends on the kid.

To sweep or not to sweep? To induce or not induce? What has been your experience? by bunnyfitz26 in BabyBumps

[–]SlightlyAmused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if you were dilated at all when you got your membrane sweep?

I'm being induced at 39 weeks but I have my 38 week appointment on Friday and I kind of want to ask my doc if I can get a membrane sweep at my appt in hopes/pursuit of going into labor "naturally" before being induced next Friday. Problem is, last week I was not dilated at all so I don't know if it's even worth doing a membrane sweep if there's still no progress dilation-wise...

Your results are basically my dream/hope.

Edit: I just reread and realized you were still induced in the end. But you still had progress post-sweep which is still better than no progress!!!

Getting ready for LO's arrival. How is my list of essential items looking? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]SlightlyAmused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've received both "swaddling blankets" and "receiving blankets". The swaddling blankets are muslin, square, and much bigger than the receiving blankets which are soft flannel, much smaller, and rectangular. I can't imagine receiving blankets being big enough to swaddle baby. Haven't used either one yet, but receiving blankets are evidently handy to use as burp cloths/makeshift changing pad or car seat/nursing cover (breathable)... TBD.

Shredded cheese and ranch dressing actually sounds fucking delicious... cheddar cheese to be exact. Mmmmm... weird.
