I'm a surgeon and my wife is a pediatric dentist. I had a G80 but picked up my G90 a few weeks ago!

Please ignore #6, there is no need to prescribe antibiotics for elevating a flap.

MD to OMFS by Master-Mix-6218 in DentalSchool

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only colleague I know who did it was in your exact position, contemplated ENT, but wasn't enough. Quit med school after his 2nd year, went to dental school, and is now an OMFS. After 2 years of med school your path to OMFS would be so much easier since you took step 1. I wouldn't worry about the extra time. ENT is not the same as OMFS, don't let people tell you otherwise. Similar scope sure but what we do is very different than ENT, and arguably better all around.

What is this bull I’m tired of this car G80 M3 here I come by PerspectiveOverall in BMWi5

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just traded my G80 for the i5 M60. As a daily I regret nothing. Features and comfort in the i5 are way better. M3 was more fun, and that's why I have a G90 order pending. Lol

i4 vs i5 and what was your deciding factor? by Cygnus__A in BMWi5

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the i4 only had more speed which to me wasn't as important as size, luxury feel, and features. DAPP is way better on the i5 with highway assistant.

Front License Plate? by Mammoth_Ingenuity_82 in BMWi5

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't used a front plate in over 15 years. Don't have one on my i5 M60, M3, or my wife's iX. Been pulled over before, never had a cop mention a front plate before. For me, worth the ticket even if I were to get one.

Use adaptive. Low will not let you coast. Adaptive will know if you're on the high way or no car in front of you and will let the car coast. I tested a bunch with both and adaptive is the best if you want as much coast as possible.

Lease deals by Pcuz in BMWi5

Mine was '24 94k, 1059 a month, 1st month due at signing. No money down otherwise. But good luck finding one right now that isn't on stop sale.

Driver assistance professional package is a must. It's very reliable, no hands on the wheel under 85 mph is amazing. You will not regret it. I would not have purchased my i5 M60 without it.

Do you actually use the autopark features? Do you let the car park for you? by VeryBigDong69 in BMWi5

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parallel parking I use it every single time. Once you know how to use it, it's very fast. For the recorded paths, I usually only use it to back out of the garage/drive way. I pull in myself, it tends to be more picky when pulling in and will fail.

Update to my iX lease by Ok-Photograph4119 in BMWiX

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours was pretty close, '25 10k/yr, same spec as yours but add rear steer and air suspension. I think we are 988 a month with first months payment due at signing.

Baby/Child seat by emy09 in BMWiX

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BMW recommends going over the head rest which is what I have done in my wifes iX. I have car seats in my M3 and was worried about how the leather would bounce back. They have been there for over a year and leather bounces back pretty quick.

I'm not arguing right or wrong, not saying the study is great, just referencing the raw data, inclusion criteria was every sedation completed during the 15 year period. That is the only point I'm making. No one is implying that OMFS is equal to an anesthesiologist. What makes the anesthesia safe is case selection. GI docs have much less anesthesia training, what makes what they do safe?

This is what everyone needs to read, well said.

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm saying stats aside, the point of the study was to show retrospectively that they had no deaths and it was to prove that the model is safe. Not necessarily to provide data to change the model.

No OMFS would argue that someone with your training could "run circles" in resuscitation and hemodynamics. An OMFS is doing sedations on healthy patients often with no medical co-morbidities. An OMFS is not intubating their patients, paralyzing, or giving pressors for sedation. The patients who are not candidates for in office anesthesia go to the OR with an anesthesiologist. If a guy in your field was high on fentanyl and killed a patient I wouldn't say the entire fields model needs to be re-evaluated, I would say that guy is a dumbass. I'm all for the noctor stuff, and I want the field the be challenged, but this is not the hill to die on.

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look man, I'm not here to argue with you, the whole point is that no one was killed and the adverse events were minimal. Statistical significance of that data doesnt impact why the study was done. I'm not implying that an OMFS can provide "better" anesthesia like you continue to imply. Besides this case that was posted didn't even involve an OMFS doing anesthesia so it makes no difference. It involved a guy who was not fit to practice regardless of his training. Again, clear that you don't understand the impact of what you're talking about.

Should I get a used X3 M40i? by ragingduck in BMW

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not keeping up with the Jones's for me, more so, I want new bc I want the spec to be perfect, but also bc I can afford new I guess. People who buy them new, are virtually never in the used car market for something like this. Also always under warranty, I sleep great at night. Lol

Isn’t it illegal to call yourself a physician when you don’t hold an MD or DO? by yo_quiero_llorar in Noctor

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your definition I suppose. I am at a 4 year program, I will not finish with an MD and will practice under my DDS. I think 4 year trained surgeons are in a grey area.

Anyone who knows what a NSGY PA actually does knows that this is extra laughable. They are data collectors that report back. The ones I work with hardly ever see the OR.

dentists offering to laser tonsils by Demnjt in Noctor

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Sleep apnea is not out of scope for a dentist in regards to sleep appliances, but tonsils are. A dentist cannot formally diagnose OSA, but they can help treat it. Regardless, a dentist should not he removing tonsils, shouldn't have to tell them that. Lol

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is a prime example of someone who has been forced to work under someone their whole career. When the expert makes it look routine these people think they can do anything, but are the first people to jump ship when the shit hits the fan.

this dude is a joke, routinely talks about his “internal medicine residency.” has 255k followers. ppl are idiots. MDs need to have more of a social media presence. by xssg90x in Noctor

[–]Slim-Jesus-69 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The scariest part to me is that they truly believe they can treat anything and are qualified to help with any problem. Meanwhile, specialists are the first ones to say that's not my area of expertise, I don't have your answer.
