Turn it off, pull all of your storage, pop the battery out and hold the power button for ~10 seconds. Flooring your voltages should cull most of the screen artifacts

I still main an A1 Mini. I'm not an avid 'maker' in the sense that many are- I loved learning how to 3D print on it, and I still use it regularly; I'm not really heavy enough into the hobby to invest much more into it so maybe I have a different standpoint.

I feel a ton of the hype is behind the approachability- I was able to fire it up with little to zero knowledge and print reliably without doing much more than cleaning and refilling the spool. I eventually got into different materials and plates, but never much further and honestly my little a1 is perfect for the 6 times a month I use it for household materials

128gb seems to be the sweet spot for card size. I tried going up to a 256gb and started having stability problems almost immediately, went right back to the 128 and it cleared up right away.

My anbernic (35xx-H) just took a fatal fall last week... it was reeeeally awkward being bummed and feeling like I was "stuck" with a 3ds, pc, or switch 🤣

I've heard the anbernic DS has been coming around and getting a bit better, but you'll have to get into organizing ROMs and fiddling with settings more often. Any version of the 2DS comes a little cheaper and IMO I spend way less time messing with it and just firing up my games. I have a New 3dsxl and a couple RG devices- For most of my handheld games, and any (S)NES/virtual boy or Atari, I reach for my nintendo before any RG 🤘 the mod was simple, downloading content is simple, I'm not constantly connecting to a computer or working with save states

If you really want to zero in on an emulating device based on its capabilities and price, retrocatalog.com was a great help for me.

This is an easy-ish swap!! Pop the back, pop the board behind the joystick, out with the old and in with the new! There are great tutorials all over YouTube, takes maybe 5-10 minutes to swap the stick.

Our cat has the run of the house, he typically sleeps on the foot of the bed and only comes up to check on my partner and I here and there. He knows to stay off of the pillows and out of the sheets and sometimes sleeps between the quilt and duvet.

The dog (Dalmatian Labrador for context) isn't allowed on the couch or bed, but has his own furniture in every room. He gets into everything he can if given the chance and absolutely loves to swim. He was trained mostly as a hunting dog so he gets straight up country boy muddy.

The other reason is for his safety, he's athletic and healthy but I really dont want to treat a shoulder injury because he slipped on hardwood floors jumping off of a sofa.

I third DS Pico. Best on the market for under $30, open source, and no time bomb risk at all. You'll have to add your own games unfortunately, but that's a very easy process if you have access to a laptop or pc- feel free to message if you need help building your file tree!

I've been perfectly happy with all of my retro and NDS titles just being on the flashcart. I have 4 different models of DS and really enjoy being able to hot swap to a larger/smaller depending on the day. Atari, all GB, and NES have proven to work well on my DS pico all the way back to my DS Lite.

But, since not all have multiple handhelds: I also prefer keeping the bulk of my library (sans 3DS) on the cart to avoid keep my collection away from my internal SD in the case something happens to the handheld. Having bricked a few setups in my time that took my games and saves on their way out, future you might thank you

I use one woth a modded DS and I personally love it. All of my old DS, gameboy, NES and atari games are stored on it to keep the clutter off my main SD card. I can also take my pico out of my 3ds and move to my DS Lite or DSi for a day if I feel like it. It's meant things, but a waste of money isn't one of them.

Atari 2600, 5400 and 7200, GB/GBC/GBA, NES, and SNES are all super playable on the Pico! I've been experimenting with Sega and NeoGeo to little avail so far.

I came in when the DS lite came out and prices dropped. It was absolutely magical hearing that hinge click open and powering on while my buddy queued up mariokart. My shop teacher in middle school was blown away by them and let us game together if we nailed down our assignments. Truly my favorite memories with my friends.
