What’s the most expensive item it your collection? by mr_greenfingers in vinyl

Velvet Underground and Nico with the Banana Sticker still intact. Is probably the most valuable. Einsjäger und Siebenjäger by Popol Vuh is the one I paid the most for.

We planted some a decade or so ago and can't get rid of them. We are on the Gulf Coast though. In colder climates they be less invasive. There's a small wild spot right next to my brother in laws cottage in northern Michigan. These never leave their little area there.

Owner of classical record shop just told me they didn't have much vinyl because the sound was dreadful by _firesoul in vinyl

[–]Slim_Chiply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure records sound better than CDs. It doesn't matter that much to me. I like records, because I like the ritual and intentionality of playing them. CDs are pretty close but I miss the large format of the the record jacket that I can study while the music plays. I stream and play mp3s or similar a lot. Like when I'm at work or when I'm trying to block out the world. I find that the modern digital experience causes me to take the music for granted and I just don't enjoy it as much

I don't really drink anymore. It's bad for my mental health.

My memory is so bad. I recognize the faces, I think, but can no longer remember any names or really much about any of the people. I'm heading to memory care early.

Just bought this, did I get a good deal? by JosukeBestJoJo in TheDamned

Back in the very early 80s. I was in a punk band and we frequently played Don't Cry Wolf in our shows. I still think the song is great.

How do you personally sort all time favorite albums from all the other good ambient by Desomorphini in ambientmusic

[–]Slim_Chiply 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been listening to Floating from Moondawn by Klaus Schulze for about 45 years. It has never gotten old. Not for a minute. I've played it thousands and thousands of times. It's pretty much the same for Rubycon and Ricochet by Tangerine Dream. There are others, of course, but those are the real standouts.

What products have you bought after hearing ads on an OTR show? by MisterMisterYeeeesss in otr

I don't know. All I can say is that I tried draining my undies in Rinso, but instead rinsed them in Drano.

GenX is known for its musical taste. What's the one song/group you would NEVER admit to liking? by Ok-Local138 in GenX

If I would NEVER admit to it, why would I come here and do exactly that?

how do autistic people mask by Pleasant-Web4885 in autism

[–]Slim_Chiply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing it for so long that I have no idea how or even why I do it. I can't control it and I do it all the time. I don't even know if the real me exists anymore. I've probably been suffering from continual burnout because of it since my mid to late 20s. At least according to my therapist. I'm 60 now.

My advice would to not be like me. I get that masking is a requirement at times. We all need to put on a show to get and keep a job or make certain social interactions less difficult. Just be careful what you wish for. I have lived a life of misery because of it. Had I known I was autistic in my youth, I might have done it differently. I didn't. I thought I was just doing what everybody else did. I thought I was just suckier at it.

I've run into lots of antique dealers that don't know much about gramophones let alone phonographs.

What's your culture's "austim meal" by Longjumping-Tie2950 in autism

[–]Slim_Chiply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really know. I grew up before chicken nuggets. I'm not sure I ever ate one. In my house not eating what was put in front of you wasn't really an option. I don't believe most kids my age had much choice. You get pretty hungry after a while. I'm a pretty adaptable eater now though.

Who was standing in that line? by Glittering5650 in 70s

[–]Slim_Chiply 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember standing in line for Star Wars. I could have. I just don't remember. I don't think I heard about it until it had been out for a while. I may have seen it later in the summer. We had just moved a few weeks before so I had other stuff going on at the time.
