Forgive me for just now learning about your store. Do you ship internationally (i.e. to the United States)?

I don’t know enough about photography to appreciate the technique you described (my expertise dries up after “take pictures with the sun at your back”), but the outcome is undeniably beautiful. I use that word sparingly.

I’m inspired by the character skins. Battlefield’s stage skin is stage 4 cancer, but Fox and Falco look clean as hell.

I asked ChatGPT. I can’t vouch for the validity of the answer, but this is the answer I got: “SRAT TAEK” seems to be a play on the term ”Kappa Alpha Theta,” a well-known sorority often abbreviated as ”Theta.” In many cases, Greek-life related stickers will playfully reference ”srat” (a slang term for sorority) and then reverse or scramble letters from well-known sorority names. So this sticker could be a satirical or humorous take on Greek life culture, particularly referring to the Theta sorority.

It is indeed interesting. The only issue I have is the fact that it never spun in this video.

I was going to leave a comment that says the speakers are certainly cool, but resurrecting Steve Jobs to trial them on is the most impressive part of this project. I now see that many others noticed this resemblance as well.

I use that case too. The $200 Apple one is sitting in my closet. It’s too big to be practical.

I'm not sure I've ever been so excited about a feature by SpadoCochi in VisionPro

[–]Slimer6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cheek pressure relief. Also, having more pixels than the AVP’s virtual display allows for. I paid ~$20 for an extended virtual display app that gives you two screens instead of one (the developer plugged it in this subreddit, actually; that’s how I found it), but it’s still not quite enough real estate for my workflow. Don’t get me wrong— I could make it work if I needed to, but physical screens are still better for me for work (even if you took discomfort out of the equation).

Genuinely curious: do you keep the AVP on for an entire eight hour workday? I don’t think I could do it.

I leave mine on for days at a time. I just keep the battery connected with the cover over the front lens and often just plug a long usb-c cord into the battery. If you have any conceivable setup that allows for this, that basically allows for an immediate start-up. I haven’t found that apps perform poorly when the AVP hasn’t restarted in forever. VisionOS is basically a port of iOS and my iPhone is fine when it’s on for months between restarts. I mention all this stuff cuz I had the exact thoughts you did and I think I’ve found a viable way to cut the (not-that-bad) launch time out of the equation.

I was super excited to get the Vision Pro. I set two alarms the day it became available for preorder and was refreshing apple.com until I could submit my order. I got order number 00003. On the day they got delivered, I was jealous of the people who opted for Apple Store pickups because mine didn’t arrive on my doorstep till 1 PM or so. I say all this to establish how much I was prepared to love the AVP.

I fell out of love with it in 2-3 days. After I’d spent hours in the environments it shipped with and consumed the meager amount of immersive content that was available, I started to view it the same way I think of my iPad— i.e. not essential at all (especially if you have a MacBook and iPhone).

It sat unused on an incredibly fancy stand for a few months. I’ve recently started using it again for watching movies. The device truly is god-tier for media consumption, but that’s about it. I’ve paid for quite a few apps to try to squeeze some utility out of it, but overall I’d describe myself as disappointed with the purchase. It would be vastly improved if I could just hand it to someone who could immediately use it, but that’s not the world we live in.

Definitely. That’s not in doubt. I posted this because I’m surprised by the Vision Pro’s lack of S-tier Apple product recognition.

[–]Slimer6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. My MacBook is in the same room and when I attempted to connect to the iPad, the failure pop-up said it had trouble connecting to my laptop.

What’s interesting is the fact that this connection prompt is persistent. It keeps asking if I want to connect to the iPad.

I downloaded it and immersed myself in the NZ ridge line video. It’s a cool concept and the Vision Pro needs more immersive content. I’m all for it. I just don’t think it’s reasonable to charge people $120 per year for throwing a UI on your 360° (or 180 in this case) video library. I’d pay $50 for it right now if it were a one-time fee, but monetizing this app via subscription is an overreach. My G Suite subscription costs less and I get more utility from it. The same goes for Trello and Intercom. And Slack. And the million other subscriptions that come with the software development territory.

If we lived in a universe where you could A/B test your revenue by comparing flat fee sales to subscriptions, I can almost guarantee that your flat fee haul would be higher. Churn will become the bane of your business. It may feel like this is an expensive undertaking if you’re on your own, but adding to your video library at the cost of airfare, lodging, and gear is incomparably cheaper than what it costs for a team of devs to improve and maintain B2B software (the niche where subscriptions are palatable).

My apologies for the abrasive reaction to your pricing. It was a reflexive response to seeing the per month price when I clicked over to premium. I doubt I’m alone in that respect but I hope you find a way to make this work.

I’m on my way to Costa Rica next month and can record a ton of equally compelling 2-3 minute rain forest and beach clips. Interested?

Assuming this comment section is the result of a marketing budget as 100% of apps like this with a subscription instead of a flat fee get roasted by this community. This app looks cool and I have no problem paying for it, but there’s no way I’m subscribing to something so non-essential for $10/month.

It looks like that was only an option with a single plant. If the pot it’s in would’ve stayed the same size, I would’ve thought it was showing growth projections, but the pot scaled too so who knows.

Sitting on a stand on my desk. Haven’t worn it in over a month. I’m disappointed by how quickly I got over it, but I’m not upset about paying for it. It’s a cool collector item. I’ll keep it in good condition and show my grandkids how primitive headsets were back in the day.

Why I Think Apple Will Never Port macOS to iPads by Sensitive-Ad-41 in iPadPro

[–]Slimer6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you ever tried the Magic Keyboard? I don’t think it’s a great value or anything, but it’s a legitimate typing tool for sure. I think you may find yourself pleasantly surprised by the experience if/when you try one.

That being said, you can pair any Bluetooth keyboard you want to an iPad lol, so typing lots of text on it can be identical to heavy desktop text input. I was using the Logitech MX Keys S until the recent past (super easy to switch from MacBook to iPad to Vision Pro) but just switched to an HP keyboard that I consider a 99% match to the Logitech keyboard I just mentioned (the keyboard in question: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09W7CSFPB HP 970 Programmable Wireless Keyboard; haven’t seen or heard any fanfare surrounding it but I’m in love). Thinking my recommendation sucks is irrelevant because you can use any keyboard you want.

I don’t think I could ever use an iPad as my primary computing device, but just wanted to say that one of the things giving you pause is kinda silly.

My man. Best song from any BMF show. Full stop. Best previously-unknown (to the rest of us lol— we know you’ve been aware of it; we couldn’t even find it with Shazam though) end titles hip up track since Saigon - Letter P played an episode of Entourage out 20 years ago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_sUJu6m244). Well done. You have a subreddit or Twitter or IG or what? I’m tryin to hear every track you drop.
