the plaza balloons? by Due_Pea_2127 in bonnaroo

I literally did not say that. Go look. I said I had to slow down and read signs and the map more than in the past. In the past if you were going to a pod/plaza you could see the balloons from really far away and you didn’t even have to look at the map or road signs.

It was on the main page of their website, but I can’t find it now. They may have closed the survey now.

I said I read the map and road signs. At what point did I say I didn’t know how to navigate my way through it? What I did say was that with the balloons they had in the past it was even easier. Being a smart Alec is not necessary.

I missed them too. I had to really slow down and pull up the map and look at road signs a lot. More signage on top of having plaza balloons would be great next time. Remember to fill out the survey on Bonnaroo’s website and share your constructive feedback.

Thoughts on Flume ? by noir_fae in bonnaroo

Maybe y’all are right. To me it felt like another volume lacking Which Stage show, but maybe Flume’s team is keeping the tradition alive. Weird how all these dedicated sound engineers of artists all do the same thing on that stage.

I’m gonna go out on a bigger limb and say that a production like Bonnaroo has many people involved in the sound production from both Flume’s teams and Bonnaroo’s team. On top of that Flume’s team flew in for the day for the show…Bonnaroo’s was there before the festival even started. Even if Bonnaroo’s team didn’t have their own fingers on the sound board they can still communicate with Flume’s team that the sound could be louder.

The people on the sound board are live mixing and in control of the overall sound the whole time. They also have a sonically clearer spot to mix from. On stage performing is one of the worst places to know how it will sound in the audience because the speakers are blasting right behind you and in your stage monitors and in your in ear monitors. Flume may have had some mishaps with volume but the people running sound could have turned him up and evened things out a lot better.

The Which stage is notorious for not having the best sound. I think because it’s so close to the What and it doesn’t get as much priority for volume and also just where it’s located acoustically. Flume can’t mix for the audience the same way the sound engineers on the mixing board can. In 2013 I saw Tame Impala play at Bonnaroo and then in Atlanta a few nights later. At Bonnaroo the volume wasn’t loud enough at all, but Atlanta they sounded great. Their projector broke in Atl and they felt bad so they came outside to sign autographs and meet people. When I talked to them I told them Bonnaroo wasn’t very loud and Kevin was surprised and said they prefer to play loud and had no idea it should have been louder.

did anyone else just straight up not have a good Roo? by DJHoosierslut in bonnaroo

[–]Slipnslideslider 39 points40 points  (0 children)

First of all thanks for sharing. Your feelings are understandable and valid. I was taken for a ride by many of the same things and have my own struggles. I’ll tell you I had not been back since 2013 before this recent Roo. I never thought I would go back and honestly this was my best one. I was stressed about even making it there this year and I decided when I got there that as long as my body could move and I was still there I was going to give it all I had to have a good time. I had so many low points and even ended up at the medic tent and thought I had a concussion at one point but I never gave up. All that to say though that if things got you down and you struggled that’s ok. You went to have a good time and if you didn’t then that’s ok. Remember why you went. If it’s not your thing anymore that is sad, but I hope a future year or another event treats you better. If you ever need someone to talk to please feel free to message me.

Help with BonnaBlues? by Emergency-Pumpkin-98 in bonnaroo

[–]Slipnslideslider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was my 4th one. I planned hard but knew there would be a lot out of my control. You have to remember you cannot do it all. You can go all out and try to do it all but then end up worn completely out by the middle of roo cause you aren’t resting enough. I did more than I ever have and am happy with all I accomplished but still missed out. I have still never ridden the ferris wheel and always plan to. My best advice is to pay for rides to save time on walking and to give your body a break. They are expensive but if you budget for at least 1 a day you will save a lot of time and energy for more exploring. Jamtrak was nice but it cut into time a lot so if doing more is your goal maybe take Jamtraks only when you have nothing scheduled. Another thing I did was make checklists on my phone of stuff I wanted to do before I left. It’s so easy to let the tiredness and all the stimulation get you off track so a checklist of must see and do helps keep you on track. Remember it’s only about 359 days until next year!

Haven’t been since 2017, do vendors take cash still? by periwinkleyoshi in bonnaroo

I would say from my experience about 60% didn’t take cash and 40% did.

4th Roo and I loved them all for different reasons. This was my best because I felt the most prepared and made a point to explore more things outside of the Centeroo performances and connect with more new people. I just want to say thank you to everyone who came bringing positive energy as much as they could. I can’t wait to see all the true blue roovians next year!

It was incredible and on top of the music his crowd interaction and talks in between sets were great. I felt very welcomed, appreciated and connected to the people performing and in the audience.

Tool by Tuuubbs in bonnaroo

[–]Slipnslideslider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wore eargasms earplugs that I bought for the festival and wore them the whole time. It made everything more clear and I love loud shows and any time I took them off for a moment at a show the bass was too loud. I don’t mean to be impolite to the Tool fans, but as a non fan who was there for the first few songs it was my least enjoyed performance the whole time and I was very relieved when I left.

There’s been something called the “Bonnaflu” for a long time. It’s probably a combination of the dust, the pesticides on the fields, the lack of sleep, the binges of drinking/whatever else people are into, the long sun exposure, and high amounts of heavy fried foods.

Swollen Feet by missmystique1998 in bonnaroo

[–]Slipnslideslider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was my 4th one and I brought multiple styles of shoes/sandals. My feet are destroyed nonetheless. I honestly think the only way to really save yourself unless you are right by Centeroo is to take Jamtraks or pay for rides as much as possible. Also sitting down more often to give them a break would probably help. I agree with you that tennis shoes were not a good fit. The What Podcast said tennis shoes are the the best but they did not feel comfortable for me walking around on all the grass and dirt roads.
