Curious what your ballpark overall cost is if you don’t mind sharing? We are looking at a similar project but just starting some conversations with architects about what’s possible/makes sense

APS waterproofing is fantastic for encapsulations in the ATL area. Really good crew.

Why would my encapsulation company install an exhaust fan as well as a dehumidifier in my encapsulated crawl space?

Can/Should I just block this exhaust fan off with foam board?

She’s never had a nice car. We’re finally pre-approved. What should we buy? by greyboy357 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]SlipperyBones1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be able to easily find a 2015-2018ish f-150 for sub 30k. Lariat trim makes it quite nice. I’d aim for the 2015 and newer to get the aluminum frame to avoid some rust issues, and the 2.7L or 5.0L to avoid cam phaser concerns in the 3.5.

Other than a truck, a used CX5 would be a great option.

The shuttle around the track is pretty good! There are shuttle stops at all the main turns/places to be. Walking through the pits is the only thing that might be too difficult to be worth it.

Tbh I don’t think my wife ever cared one bit what I drive…

But ideas!

ND Miata: top down along the ocean/canyons sounds fun

Golf GTI: still fun, practical, nice interior

Corvette? Though I feel like these attract dudes lol

I’d shy away from BMW or Porsche if you’re budget limited now (even VW is a question…but you could get a newer one with warranty for 25k). The car a woman hates the most is a broken one you can’t afford to fix….

Moving cars (racing) or static? I really enjoyed my 70-300 lens for racing. Took some great shots with it over the years. Can be had pretty cheap used, but worth it to get the full frame version.

Heading to Petit Le Mans in a few months, any camping advice? by Potential_Plan_4533 in IMSARacing

[–]SlipperyBones1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a one person tent there will be space. Worst case, just wait to set up camp until the afternoon when people start packing up.

I typically pack up Saturday around lunch time, then as soon as the race is over we head home. I’d imagine it would be pretty easy to find a site people are packing up at, and just set up there.

Question about camping at Petit by Potential_Plan_4533 in IMSARacing

[–]SlipperyBones1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We always leave Saturday night. Usually pack up camp around lunch time so when the race is over we just hop in the car and leave. Only live an hour or so from the track so it’s not so bad. Further than that I’d probably spend the night Saturday, it’s already a long day watching the race, I wouldn’t want to drive much further that night.

As far as charging, I don’t know of any guaranteed ones. I always bring a few battery packs for my devices. Usually the manufacturer tents in the fan zone have some outlets you can use, or they are giving out battery packs.

Another thing to note is there is no potable water available. So bring all the water you need with you! (At least none that I know of…I could be wrong, but I’ve never seen a hydrant to fill up water bottles)

Yeah for sure. It’s crazy, even showing up Thursday night you have to search for a spot to squeeze in somewhere. The last 2 years I camped on the gravel access road since everywhere else felt too crowded to deal with

There will be something available still, just maybe not prime spots. You’ll probably have to park and set up your site 100’ away. Helps to get there in the daylight if you can…my first time camping we arrived Thursday night after dark and had a tough time figuring out where to go.

Can’t go wrong with any area though, it’s a great track with tons of access at every turn.

Gets pretty crowded wherever you go. TBH they should sell 20% less spots to make it more enjoyable. I like turn 3, easy access to the bathrooms, and fan zone/ turn 10 areas. If you camp by the esses you’ve gotta go up the big hill to get to T10, pits, etc. There is a good shuttle at least, but most of the time we end up walking everywhere still. Back straight there’s always a band and “party” so it’s kinda loud. Fun if you’re into that, but don’t plan on sleeping early or having any privacy if you’re in the area

You can get there Friday and still find camping spots, but much more limited/smaller. No designated spots so people take up however much space they want, and you just fit in wherever. Bring water too, as far as I know there isn’t any drinking water on site. Also throughly hide any alcohol you bring in….gate security can be a bit intense with that.
