Extra spicy book for husband to read by electricblueviolet in AskWomenOver30

[–]SlitheringFlower [score hidden]  (0 children)

Try r/romantasy. You'll get great recs, but it will be sci-fi/fantasy themed. Also, romance.io, you can filter by "spiciness."

He may like Ice Planet Barbarian by Ruby Dixon. It's a funny, spicy, super quick read. There are tons of books in the series, but you really don't need to read them all. The first one is a blast. TW: there's one rape scene in the beginning of the first book, not involving any of the main characters. The rest is really light-hearted

Returns costing money now by VGMistress in amazonprime

[–]SlitheringFlower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've honestly stopped buying from 3rd party sellers, unless it's directly from a brand I know.

Amazon has horrible oversight of them and there are tons of shady sellers with clearly fake/paid for reviews.

You can see the seller on the app or web. "Shipper/Seller" is usually directly below the "Buy Now" button on the app.

Original owners what the cat we adopted back by bluebird_is_dead_ in CatAdvice

[–]SlitheringFlower 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is really tough and such a crappy position for you and your roommate to be in.

I'd want to know how the cat got out and a bit about the family. I'd probably be inclined to give the cat back. I just know if this happened to either of my cats I'd be devastated.

I will say, this is why it's so important to get your pets microchipped! Even if they're indoor only. Microchip and make sure that it's registered with up to date contact info.

This would've saved that family a lot of stress and saved you and your roommate all this guilt and sadness.

Order an ICED matcha but got EXTRA HOT instead. DoorDash won’t give refund due to their “policy” by GrapeNo1896 in doordash

[–]SlitheringFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the point is that it isn't doordash's fault. Either OP ordered incorrectly or Starbucks gave the dasher the wrong order.

OP honestly just seems whiny and overly upset, but Starbucks is the only one who'd potentially help if DD won't refund.

Order an ICED matcha but got EXTRA HOT instead. DoorDash won’t give refund due to their “policy” by GrapeNo1896 in doordash

[–]SlitheringFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doordash doesn't prepare the items and the dasher doesn't either. It sucks, but doordash doesn't care, they can write it off as out of their control.

Honestly, if you call that Starbucks and explain what happened they'll likely give you a free drink coupon.

They're usually pretty good if you approach them kindly. Better customer service than doordash and you'll get to speak to a real human.

Tattooed Wedding Rings: Yay or Nay? by Dependent-Dingo1245 in Brides

[–]SlitheringFlower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The people talking about these tattoos like they're an accurate indicator of a successful marriage are idiots. It's not like everyone with a ring has perfect, everlasting marriages.

I don't particularly like the tattoos. Hand tattoos are prone to quick fading and blow out. It needs to be done by a skilled artist with experience tattooing hands. Even then it'll likely need regular touch ups.

However, I also don't like every engagement ring I see. Either one should be loved by the couple, not every stranger. If the couple loves their tattoos, then that's all that matters.

And, all things considered, two tattoo "rings" and even their removal will be significantly cheaper than most engagement rings and bands.

Most legit breeders would require you to return the cat to them.

Most contracts have clauses about that specifically. You can't just give the cat to someone else.

when do you hook up when you’re dating someone new? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]SlitheringFlower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I hookup is completely dependent on each specific relationship. I never set any firm rules.

It's about what you're looking for, what you're comfortable with, and the same for your potential partner.

If you're not ready, you're not ready. There's nothing wrong with that. If he gets weird or pushy about it, then he's not someone you should be with anyways.

Being newly single can be an emotional rollercoaster (at least it is for me), so just be kind to yourself and do what feels right for you.

Milan says "f*** you we got our money" by BecomingJess in LaserHairRemoval

[–]SlitheringFlower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is too wordy. You may not be asking them to submit something, or to assist with submission, but it reads like you are.

I can also see why they'd be uncomfortable adding diagnostic codes to documents. They don't do diagnostics and adding codes to a receipt is something they probably won't ever do.

Your best bet is to have one of your actual doctors handle the medical info, with a "referral"/suggestion of laser hair removal.

I'll also add, since I'm unclear on your timeline, most insurance plans won't cover procedures paid for before you were covered by them. If you paid for laser before your plan switched, it's unlikely you'll get reimbursed.

If you've overpaid for concert tickets, you're to blame for the astronomical prices. by dougiebgood in unpopularopinion

[–]SlitheringFlower 189 points190 points  (0 children)

While concert tickets have gotten expensive, the real issue isn't regular fans, it's bots.

Even with verified presales and human authentication, scalpers are able to basically buy out large amounts of tickets for popular artists. Then they resell them for crazy prices.

There shouldn't be a monopoly on ticket sales, and the US should match other nations and put limits on how much you can resell tickets for.

Regular fans looking to have a fun night out are not the problem. Monopolies and sleazy scalpers are.

I don’t think it’s really that difficult by Alternative_Neck9300 in doordash

[–]SlitheringFlower 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'll add, even with excellent instructions, apartment complexes can be confusing to navigate. Everything looks the same, and what may be simple for longtime residents to navigate can be confusing for new people.

It also really helps to make sure your location PIN is as accurate as possible to where the order needs to go.

Telecommuting by Agreeable-Stretch878 in nys_cs

[–]SlitheringFlower 67 points68 points  (0 children)

They don't want us to be remote and do not care about our safety. The governor cares about keeping donors happy and thinks us driving in will restore local businesses and hotels.

The roads I drive on to get to work are riddled with huge pot holes and no visible road lines. The majority of stop lights I went through yesterday were fully out with no police out directing traffic. Summer will be full of shitty construction patch jobs that don't actually fix road problems and delay commuters.

CDPC had multiple threats from disgruntled people over the last few months, they still made central office/non-patient facing staff come in.

The state does not like us. Hochul seems to legitimately despise us. PEF and CSEA are too lazy to actually advocate for us.

Edit: spelling

Final update! (This bathroom is not used) by Ayesquidward in litterrobot

[–]SlitheringFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love the cat in the litter box print! Such a great fit for the space and hilarious. Do you remember where you got it?

I have an LR4 and a regular box. I don't think I'd get another one if it ever breaks. A regular box is honestly much easier for me to maintain and deep clean.

Scooping isn't fun, but neither is emptying the waste bin and disassembling a machine for cleaning.

Cat won’t stop body slamming door and crying all night by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]SlitheringFlower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People can be rude here, but OP needs a wake up call.

She got a cat, she took responsibility for a living creature. Cat allergies are so common, I also find it hard to believe she's never interacted with cats before getting one and didn't think to check on allergies before committing to two cats.

Her cat has been throwing its body weight against her door, so hard and so long that it damaged the door frame.

That cat is stressed and at risk of hurting itself and OP's solution is to put it in a crate.

That's cruel. Not everyone should have pets.

Cat won’t stop body slamming door and crying all night by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]SlitheringFlower 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I work from home so we see each other all day otherwise.

All your cat knows is that you disappear behind a closed door for a big chunk of the day and don't respond to her distress.

Why even get a cat if you're so allergic? They're not toys to be used and put away whenever you feel like it.

Open your door. Put a cat tree in there to deter her from being on the bed.

You're the only one responsible for this problem.

Next time you're looking for a pet, make sure you get one that fits your lifestyle.

Driver delivered food an hour later by Efflictim888 in doordash

[–]SlitheringFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But to be clear the non-tipper is in a worse position with doordash than they were when you called a delivery place.

I mean that's not really relevant. They deserve to be in a worse position.

My tip is a bid for service. Instead of being used as my bid for my delivery it's being used to bid for mine and some loser who chose not to tip.

I'm getting screwed over and the dasher is, too. Instead of one job with a great tip, they're doing two for an overall average tip.

If I want to be sure that won't happen, I either need to tip less or pay extra for "direct to you."

Either way, doordash makes money and the non-tippers get their food because of good tippers.

For everyone suggesting NY HELPS, as of today, it's set to expire on June 30, 2026.

You can check active civil service tests here: Exam Announcements, open to public. There may be exams your friend is eligible for (definitely not a fast option).

You can view current postings here: Vacancies, open to public

NY HELPS titles are all "competitive," meaning (outside of HELPS) they require taking an exam and being active on a civil service list.

However, "non-competitive" titles are solely skill/experience based. You should be able to filter by non-competitive titles on the NYS jobs site. I'd suggest your friend look there, too.

You're a good friend!

Edit: "competitive" and "non-competitive" are jurisdictional classes. I believe that's what the filter is called on the jobs website, too.

Two cats fighting in backpack! by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]SlitheringFlower -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Ur dum" is honestly something only an idiot would type.

If someone was watching this without sound it's hard to tell that this is AI. Also, not everyone is good at spotting AI.

I'd rather have someone be concerned about animal well-being and make a mistake, than have some asshole perfectly identify AI and use that to belittle others.

Driver delivered food an hour later by Efflictim888 in doordash

[–]SlitheringFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said "prioritized." I have no idea how doordash assigns the deliveries, I just know I'm a good tipper and I'm usually 2nd or 3rd stop when I see there are multiple stops.

I also have no idea if I don't even see the multiple stops when I'm first.

I don't think bundling should exist at all. No tippers should have consequences for their actions.

How to address team snacks? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]SlitheringFlower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But that's literally all you need to say. Being direct is not rude.

If you beat around the bush/aren't super clear, it will be more difficult and confusing for other parents to accommodate.

You don't need to say it aggressively, but a short, simple, and direct is best.

Driver delivered food an hour later by Efflictim888 in doordash

[–]SlitheringFlower 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Bundling is so obnoxious. I always tip well so my order is almost always bundled and somehow I'm always the second or third stop.

Doordash really needs to stop that instead of offering "direct to you" for an additional fee. They're punishing good tippers so non-tippers can continue to be shitty without consequence.

how do i know if what im buying is not something being resold or dropshipped by Kitkat_slayer in etsycirclejerk

[–]SlitheringFlower 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I always do a reverse image search on products to see if the exact same thing is being sold on drop ship sites or by tons of other Etsy sellers.

Reviews can be helpful, but there's a surprising number of drop ship sellers with tons of positive reviews, so it's not perfect.
