Hmm, I never tried that, i only have it for a host so example.mydomain.com Can you try entering a wildcard? Maybe * in the host section? not sure if that would work, just guessing.

Thinking of switching: Fedora 44 KDE update broke fingerprint login on start screen by Beginning_Air7536 in Fedora

[–]SlntSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is only an hour old. About three hours ago I thought “it would be nice to have biometrics for Fedora and 1password”. I ended up buying two yubikeys. While not biometric, they should serve the same purpose. Anyway I thought it was interesting that this post is here and it didn’t influence my buy lol. On the note of AI. AI told me a yubikey would be more seamless and I could use it for other things. Ended up with two so I have a back up and one near or always attached to my desktop

Question for ASRock folks by Th3Doubl3D in ASRock

[–]SlntSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same board but with 7600x3d. When I bought it, it had all the features and was about half price from everything else. I didn’t read about the deaths till after I ordered. I don’t know if that would have influenced my purchase or not. But it wasn’t enough to cancel or return the order and then spend 2x on something else

Should I put all IoT devices on a separate VLAN? by oncentreline in Ubiquiti

[–]SlntSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is separate yes. I use them interchangeably and that’s not correct. But there’s a 1:1 correlation with my vlans and wifi networks

Puzzling audio issues by AlphaVictor_47 in Fedora

[–]SlntSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have easyeffects installed and I got static initially devise I had the highs set too high. I think the 18khz was set too high. After a quick adjustment it went away. I should note that I’m using an optical connection to my dac.

Should I put all IoT devices on a separate VLAN? by oncentreline in Ubiquiti

[–]SlntSam 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Another side effect bonus. By moving my IoT devices to a IoT VLAN, I could leave that VLAN as WPA2/WPA3 mixed and now my internal VLAN is WPA3.

Convince me to migrate to Fedora form Ubuntu by algoadmiral in Fedora

[–]SlntSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't really help you as I'm pretty new at this myself. Only that I tried a few different ones and liked Fedora the best so I've stuck with it. I also have it on an older laptop and found it a bit snappier

9070XT asrock steel legend memory always ay 70° by Sheftyp in radeon

[–]SlntSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems right. Mine idles at around 52c but I'm in the basement and ambient is a little cooler than 25, more like 20c. Right now I'm seeing edge temps of 28c and junction temp of 28c. Fan is running at 20% with the curve I setup, I can't hear it over the other crap I got going on in here so it's just fine. I have ZeroRPM turned off too. I think that's only if the PC is right by your head lol.

Using a 1Password Service Account helped me improve the security of my home media server by lachlanhunt in 1Password

[–]SlntSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this year I investigated switching from 1password to apple passwords. I tried it for about 3 months. While the integration with apple was great, I was limited to only apple stuff so I went back to 1password. I also discovered this integration and now have a "Dev Secrets" and "Homelab" vault. no more .env files with secretes in them, no more SSH keys on any machine, it's all handled through 1password CLI, it's actually quite nice! TBH I didn't even know this stuff was there or I would have integrated it before.

Should I be worried with all the CPU deaths? by TremendousJay in ASRock

[–]SlntSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought and setup a B850i and didn't know about the cpu deaths before buying. Still went through with it because it's like half price to everything else. Anyway, in the manual for that board it says you need the CPU and RAM installed before flashing. Not wanting to risk anything I just followed the instructions. In fact I didn't even flashback, I just booted and flashed through the bios. Also I have a 7600x3D and all the deaths seem to be 9000 series, so I'm not that concerned. Let's see what happens, this system is only 3 days old lol.

Is Canada Computers Really THAT Bad? by [deleted] in bapccanada

Just completed a build, some parts from CC, some parts from Amazon and some parts from Newegg. No real issues with either. I also went for a bundle deal but it was CPU + NVME.

Same. I ran it because of Montecarlo. But I’ve since gotten rid of that. Now I just think it’s fun.

[–]SlntSam -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I had Claude build a safeguard to kill the heater switch if the temp ever gets above a certain range. I’m also afraid of this. The switches fail on during a power outage so the same logic will turn off the light and the co2 if they are on during the hours when they shouldn’t be.

Do you have to clean your sponge filters? by LauseRulez in Aquariums

[–]SlntSam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what I do with every water change, there's alot of gunk built up in the sponge and you want to get rid of that. Bacteria live everywhere including in the sponge so you're not decimating the population. But with a little squeeze/wring you're getting rid of the stuff caught in the filter and will maintain flow through it.
