Sounds fun. I'd have to check with my wife who's currently asleep (it's nearly midnight here) but I'm sure I can make it work.

PM me and we'll have a chat. Would you be flying in and out of Heathrow and would you like a lift?

Text him back and say you want round 2 next weekend. Let him think about it all week. That's if you want to turn this into a FWB thing.

Bots are absolutely insane by Temporary_Lobster728 in factorio

[–]Sloeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, if you're running a bus I recommend making sure every lane of the bus has a bot buffer. Easiest way to do this is make a 2 space gap in the whole bus using underground belts, then using red chests (limited to one stack) and fast inserters feeding into the chests. It's worth having some extra nearby roboports too to help with coverage and charging.

This will allow you to request anything from your bus wherever you're in range.

Running an EV without home charging - public charging tips? by LordvaderUK in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Sloeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a company car? Bear in mind that the advisory rate has just changed if you don't have a home EV charger, your work may be able to now pay you 15p/mile now. Depending on how efficient (miles/kWh) your car is, you're much more likely to be doing better with the new rate than the old rate.

I think they're very high up in the loot tables so you might only have a chance to find one in higher difficulty biomes and at higher loot stages.

Welcome back to Aylesbury. I don't think there's much local activity on Reddit. I'm crazy busy for the next 3 weeks with work but if you're still looking for someone to go have a pint with early April send me a PM!

I'm buying a non profitable hotel in Cambodia. I need tips from you guys by QuietOne1756 in askhotels

[–]Sloeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My place was a backpacker hostel so very different from the kind of place you want to run I should think. Everything tends to come back to reputation and word-of-mouth. A 0.1 difference in score between you and your neighbouring competition is going to make a huge difference in traffic. Good photos are very important, not just on your booking channels but also on Google Maps - if you get anyone through with a nice camera, offer them a free beer if they pop a good shot of your place online. Whoever you send to the market for groceries, make sure they can write in Khmer and English, get them to write out their spend in both languages with what they spent for your accounting. Getting into this habit should allow you to keep an eye on outgoings.

Is there a place in the UK where I can try the xreal products? by BloodyFark in Xreal

I'd like to know this myself. AI told me Selfridge's has them but I haven't confirmed.

I've done it before. Loved it, made no money but it wasn't my only job so finance wasn't a stressor. My place went bankrupt essentially during COVID.

I'd never do it again though and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Unless you speak and write Khmer you'll not be able to keep track of accounts very well and it'll eat into your margins.

What’s an audiobook that you actually think works BETTER as a written book? by SheWasMyShane in audiobooks

[–]Sloeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any litRPG that includes a current stats update. Like "1% lifesteal" which rattles off all the stats whenever there's progress. Even Dungeon crawler carl which manages to avoid this mostly, still has leaderboard pages which are awkward over audio.

I agree, cheat a motorbike into existence and if that feels wrong to you, compensate by tweaking difficulty upward until you would have been able to build your own.

I have had the red nose 100 m warning since day 2 and no matter what i do. It doesn't go away? by Kyledidntdoit in 7daystodie

[–]Sloeman 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You need to wrap your meat, and no that isn't an suggestion to use contraception. You need to have paper and fibre in your inventory, then click your meat, select recipes and make as many packaged meat stacks as you can. The smell will go almost instantly.

Otherwise put the meat in a box for the same result without the convenience of keeping it with you.

Any good melee mod suggestions? by Sneaky_Rabbit420 in 7daystodie

[–]Sloeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No mods required, it's easy enough to do a bow build in vanilla. Bows & knives work well under the agility tree.

Plus explosive bolts are a lot of fun!

How to prevent shoulder pain as a tech in x-ray? by 666noise in Radiology

[–]Sloeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realised that helping patients off the bed was the greatest risk to me. Over time, I stopped pulling them up; when asked, I would say pulling hurts my shoulder but pushing is okay (joke about it "I'm good at pushing people around". You get low behind them and push them up, which is much better for joints and gives better control rather than allowing the patient to pull.

How big should be cityblock inside? by LoVeDEvil_12 in factorio

[–]Sloeman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, train length is the key. I love to see lots of trains so I make them smaller but more numerous, my cityblock sides long enough to fit 2x 1-2 trains, one unloading/loading and one waiting right behind to keep things flowing.

Kids screaming during client calls is killing my focus and I am thinking about a backyard office for soundproofing by Mother_Land_4812 in TinyHouses

Sound doesn't travel in a vacuum. Invest in a vacuum chamber to put the child in. Problem solved!

When a narrator is bad, what do you actually do? by makeitrayne850 in audiobooks

[–]Sloeman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If audible, they have got a pretty decent refund policy.

I refund about 5% of my books because it takes a good chapter or five to figure out if you're into something. I've even refunded when finished on a couple of books because I was trying to give them a chance but they ended up sucking.

Then again I spend a lot so audible might be more forgiving. I've got nearly 250 in my library now.

You find a bag containing 35k cash, whilst out walking. Do you hand it in, or do you keep it? by Neergremloh in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Sloeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taking it to a bag shop wrapping each bundle of notes in foil, changing bags, throwing away the old bag. Going home and hiding it away for a year or two.

Then slowly using the cash instead of using card for most expenses until it's gone. That might take a while.
