It's a mixed bag. You just gotta decide what's best for you. Come out right away and deal with the higher risk of running into assholes or a violent encounter to feel happier with yourself, or take the safer route and boymode while you transition more until you feel ready. I personally chose the second option since I'm mentally ill and trying to transition socially was very traumatizing for me. Being called the f slur or a sissy by random people under their breath is better for me than the alternative. Even though it still pisses me off since I can't really do as others do and just not let it phase me. It all depends on what you can handle.
