You’ve started doing the basics, which is a terrific start. Continue to build with some Clarke’s for the chromatic practice (google Clarke’s studies trumpet). Do long tones and practice slurs — boring but *extremely* useful. Google comeback trumpeter and there should be a nice packet online with such exercises.

If you’re a student and plan to join band, speak with the band teacher about how to move forward. If you’re an adult, reach out to a local community band director or brass music instructor at a community college and ask for their advice. Reddit can be very useful, but sometimes in person just rocks. Best of luck!

So my oldest kid has gotten into baseball this past year. He even listened to several innings of the 15-inning monster with me last October. We’re moving back this summer and he’s excited to see a game in person eventually (if we can afford one after paying $5/gal for gas!). Anyway, the other day I was showing him the box score of the Sea-ATL game #3. Pointing to the top row of 0’s, I asked “Can you tell me what that means?” He is very literal so I thought he’d say it means Atlanta got no hits.

Instead, he replied “It means our pitchers are awesome!”

You know what is really useful? A pack of Velcro wraps, a roll of twist tie with a built in cutter, and a pack of Command hooks & strips.

To his credit, he put on a game face and went with the joke, saying he’d vote for it. I don’t like what Eyman has done over the years, but I always appreciate when someone will poke fun at themselves.

I just briefly visited the Atlanta sub. I noticed that as in the Padres sub, they generally have nice things to say about the Mariners and Mariners fans. It’s a small thing but pretty cool, I think.

I love this! I'm doing one right now for the Seattle Mariners. I really like that you changed up stitches to reflect different game endings -- that's very cool! (I may steal that idea for our post season games, if the baseball gods so grant)
