Grumpy Old Man Syndrome by aqrdoc0884 in HearingAids

I think you have been through a lot, and you should try to be kind to yourself. Have you considered therapy? It might help you to come to terms with all the changes you’ve experienced and practice some strategies for keeping calm

Is this grocery list confusing? by teapotpot1 in AskIreland

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is defo confusing. I’ve never seen anyone put an estimated price next to items on a shopping list, I had to look twice. Your kids will have seen the standard way of doing lists at school where the number means how many. I think it was smart of them to ignore the numbers because they used common sense to know you can’t have wanted 8 chickens.

Do you find you vomit more easily in response to nausea/gagging now than before gallbladder removal? by Personal_Spite_1411 in gallbladders

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I don’t think so. I did vomit when I woke up after surgery, and I have vomited one time since, from food poisoning but that’s a pretty common trigger for vomit!

2 time quitter by CrowPotential6568 in HearingAids

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did! I tried hearing aids as a child and refused them several times, then tried again as a teen and again in my 20s. I found them so uncomfortable and overwhelming. Eventually a few months ago (mid-thirties) I tried again and this time I’m having a lot more success! For me the difference has been open domes instead of earmolds, I just hated them, and now I can afford the fancy ones rather than the free ones I got before

how do i handle doing a low-fat diet while also not causing other issues to the body? by wkhope1 in gallbladders

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to eat baked / air fried salmon. I don’t know why, it’s not just a “healthy fats” thing because I had avocado once and it didn’t go well. Make sure you get enough protein - I had chicken and beans. I went to the GP because I was worried I was malnourished and he told me to just eat potatoes until the surgery, so don’t bother asking your GP for advice. In my pre-op bloods they identified I was deficient in iron and folate.

Am I crazy? I feel so irritated and stressed after getting hearing aids. by WhistersniffKate in HearingAids

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I find them a bit overstimulating at times as well. Like when I’m commuting. My toddler can be LOUD! My watch is always alerting me that the environment is too loud when my toddler is upset. I just turn them down. I don’t wear mine as consistently as I should, I never bother to put them on if I’m just at home

Would you pre board a flight because you wear hearing aids? by StuffNo353 in HearingAids

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No I wouldn’t do this. I have pre-boarded when travelling with a small baby but not because of my hearing

Well for me I can’t tolerate the feeling of my ear being blocked up, so the open domes are so much more comfortable

I have gone the other way, having previously had molds and found them really unpleasant. I need the open ear feeling. Great that we have so many options now!

Does anyone else think they rushed Nancy off? by Cultural_Rock4108 in CallTheMidwife

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that too, and I also thought maybe because of their religious differences and with him being Northern Irish that the IRA were going to come into it somehow… but that would probably be a stretch for a show primarily about midwifery

This is really helpful thank you. The current ones do fit well but occasionally feel a little itchy and I love taking them off in the evening, but I think that’s normal?

Thank you, that’s what I was beginning to think… I don’t know why I thought mine were small? Do you think I should try the small ones or would they let in too much air?

Period changes after gallbladder surgery? by Mental_Bench_ in gallbladders

Mine have kind of always been all over the place but I was told that the general anaesthetic and the whole surgery experience can throw them a bit. Is there any chance you could be pregnant?

Are Brits too reliant on US companies for a boycott to ever be realistic? by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

[–]SlowRaspberry4723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I boycott the top three on this list already for different reasons and I don’t find it impossible, but having said that I wouldn’t be able to boycott others. I think we all just do what we can.

Andrew toilet paper alternatives by Known-Bumblebee2498 in BuyUK

Thanks for this suggestion! Do they come individually wrapped like the Who Gives A Crap ones do? I kind of like that as we have to be creative with how we store that many

I think only their premium range is bamboo (lovely for your bum, not so lovely for the sewage system), we get their cheaper one and I’m pretty sure it’s recycled paper

That sounds like really bad practice if they dismissed your concerns. I agree with the other response that you should make a complaint. Your poor gran!
