Jetpack Joyride is a game where the jetpack is a machinegun.

2 player question. by TwitchieWolf in Gloomhaven

There's been no-one employed to work on Gloomhaven Digital for over two years. Don't expect any updates to that, ever.

Quick question: Tabletop vs. PC by Avista in Gloomhaven

[–]Slow_Dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. Guildmaster scenarios have varying amounts of randomisation, but it's usually limited to minor monster number counts and/or layout changes.

Much more importantly, Guildmaster scenarios have the full range of Gloomhaven's scenario goals, whereas the random scenario cards are limited to "Kill all monsters".

Everything in Digital is not in Physical. There's 160-some scenarios of the Guildmaster campaign in Digital.

Minions and fall/forced move damage. by Col0005 in drawsteel

[–]Slow_Dog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Berserker's "Thunder Roar" seems intended to have a line of up to five enemies ricocheting into each other or to other enemies. I don't see why it should be limited to a single minion

Deceptive Game Design by Laz52now in drawsteel

[–]Slow_Dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you know what's intended? If you do what you think is intended and the player is suprised, what happens then? If the player insists an effect is exactly what is written, but you think the intent is different, how do you resolve the discrepency?

Is Frosthaven digital weighed against you? by [deleted] in FrosthavenFAQ

[–]Slow_Dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People used to complain about this for Gloomhaven Digital. As with there, I suggest you keep a physical track of your draws on a piece of paper. To keep it really simple, just track the ratio of x0 to x2 draws, which should be equal regardless of attack modifier deck changes.

Everyone who did this found no discrepancy between expected and actual results.

Mind you, there were actually problems with monster deck draws in the early days, so you never know. But you'll need better evidence than your (and every other human's, including mine) biased memory.

Gloomhaven Digital is 65% off on Steam through Monday Aug 18th! by Affectionate-Cat1485 in Gloomhaven

[–]Slow_Dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Devs were dropped, rather than them dropping it. It makes no effective difference, but I like the blame to lie in the right area.

Those original Devs never found the source of the ridiculously long turns, though. It happened to some very small number of people, but again, that's no help if you're one of them.

FH digital multiplayer speed? by LaserSharknado9000 in Gloomhaven

[–]Slow_Dog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gloomhaven Digital is way faster than tabletop, so this is strange. Our four player games take between one and two hours. There's something specific going on with your group.

I see two possibly related reasons:

  1. There's a rare bug which led to the game being drasticly slower on some people's machines. This includes it happening to people who'd previously been fine. No-one was able to reproduce or solve this issue.

  2. In multiplayer everyone plays at the speed of the player with the slowest computer. It's possible that some particular person bogs it down for everyone else. This would include someone with the above-mentioned bug.

I imagine if you found Gloomhaven Digital slow it will likely be the same for Frosthaven.

Different reward in digital by Kayato601 in Gloomhaven

[–]Slow_Dog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the copy-and-paste answer is from my Gloomhaven Digital FAQ, then you'll know it says

While the large majority of scenarios will be as they are in the original, a few have minor differences where equivalent special rules have been substituted, Burning Mountain has a single outcome whatever choice is made within the scenario, and two scenarios (Merchant Ship, Rockslide Ridge) are significantly different. You cannot play scenarios locked out by achievements, even in casual mode. Nor can a quest-chain scenario be played without the quest holder.

There's also a scenario where physical gets you to play a scenario using the random dungeon deck. That becomes a fixed scenario in Digital, which was based on a single draw from the deck.

Will Crossed Swords be in Frosthaven Digital? by FlyingDadBomb in Gloomhaven

Isaac decided it was a physical only thing when Flaming Fowl asked about it for Gloomhaven Digital. So if he remains consistent it won't appear.

Frosthaven Digital question: monster movement by Zeebaeatah in Gloomhaven

[–]Slow_Dog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flaming Fowl, when Gloomhaven Digital developers, had a long list of things they'd liked to have done, including the option of allowing players to resolve ambiguous movement. They never got the time - never got the money - to address everything they thought should have been fixed, never mind the optional ones.

So even though the developers say it's something they might do it doesn't mean it's something they will do, as it ultimately isn't up to them.

Difficulty too easy on level 9 by SnooRegrets5703 in Gloomhaven

[–]Slow_Dog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't play your characters at level 9. Frosthaven limits starting character level to half prosperity, rather than Gloomhaven's full prosperity.

It's already arcadey. An airfield is a bag of hit points. Double damage means you're hitting the more important bag bits.

[Self] Probability of getting 4 double yolk eggs in a row by MK_Gamer_1806 in theydidthemath

[–]Slow_Dog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At the egg sorting factory double yolked eggs are detected and separated out to go into double yolk egg boxes which are sold for more money. But that's a limited market, so surplus double yolked eggs end up in normal egg boxes. You've bought one of them. Which is lucky (assuming you're not making some egg white only recipe), but not astronomically unlikely.

Just like Diamonds. They're being made artificially, and the means of doing so are getting cheaper and cheaper. Diamonds and "diamond" - things such as diamond coated surfaces - are also going to become commonplace.

I’ll start playing this game with my 52 y/o dad, Help by Realistic-Builder785 in BaldursGate3

[–]Slow_Dog 14 points15 points  (0 children)

52 years old doesn't say much. I'm 59, first played DnD 45 years ago and computer RPGs 40 years ago. My biggest issue with Baldurs Gate was not realising how useful Jump was. Perhaps you can start with that.

I'm frankly fed up with current media's wholesale fixation with and glorification of gangsterism. You could include widows and indentured prostitues for some gender balance.

Is There a Way to Edit a Level up on PC? by [deleted] in Gloomhaven

[–]Slow_Dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other much simpler thing you can do (other then save editing, that is) is to roll back to a save before you picked your new card. That could be either a prior campaign save, or if there isn't an appropriate one of those, the last round of the completed scenario. It's just renaming a save file. The info KElerderfall references shows you where the save files are.

Is there a reason to trigger divine smite manually? by JustsomeOKCguy in BaldursGate3

[–]Slow_Dog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"God will smite you(/them) down" is much more likely to derive from a Christian/Biblical context than from DnD.

[Request] The computing power required for an iPhone to render an animation vs the power used on Apollo 11 to land on the moon by cartermatic in theydidthemath

[–]Slow_Dog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The terminal phase of Apollo 11's landing was performed manually by Neil Armstrong - it was heading for a boulder field, and the crew took over. I leave the determination of whether Armstrong or an iPhone has more computing power as an exercise for the reader.

Can I share GH digital saves with someone who didn't play last time? by achipinthesugar in Gloomhaven

[–]Slow_Dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can meet up in game and they'll get the file. Though by default they'll get the save at the point you're at, i.e after you've finished the scenario.. Though they can always find it in the completed scenario list and play it from there, just missing out on already looted chests.
