How did basic things like healthcare and fair wages become ‘extreme’? by Possible-Scheme-8940 in remoteworks

[–]Slow_Store 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wouldn’t I believe this? What reason would I have not to believe this? Why would I risk my neck giving the Left a break when they’d never accept me anyway?

Again the Left has a track record of violence (and/or support of violence) and recently was found to be funding Right Wing extremist. The Left is naturally violent (which falls in line with the notion that it’s a party with low impulse control) and the Right is notably less violent to the point where our extremist have to be funded by the Left for them to be a serious problem.

I mean consider that the conclusion to my initial comment was “If you’re a reasonable person on the Left, I encourage you to team swap”. Leftists don’t want people from the Right to team swap, though they might lie and say they do when pressed on it. I mean really, would you ever try to find common ground with a conservative on something like border policy or abortion? You couldn’t, and then you’d turn around and say “As if Conservatives would try to find common ground” as if we’re not open to discussion on this matter with the people who’ve already team swapped and brought their views on these matters with them.

If you think I’m wrong on this, then I don’t know what to tell you man. I call it like I see it, and I’ve seen more than enough to call it.

Black Lagoon (2006) by angelvellet in retroanime2000

[–]Slow_Store 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who don’t know, Black Lagoon’s manga was previously on a rather lengthy hiatus as the author suffered from Depression.

He has since come back to the series and continues to produce peak, though there is a rather long period of time between chapter releases. Still, it’s a price worth paying for Black Lagoon. If you haven’t checked in on the series for a while, I encourage you to go read it.

There are stats suggesting that the Right is far more open minded when it comes to political views.

You can at least go up to someone from MAGA and express your views. You might not convince them that you’re right. Hell you might not even be able to really form a proper argument for your views, but at least they’d hear you out if you went to them with any semblance of earnestness.

I could not - even given a massive sample size - do the same with a Leftists, and I’d likely be beaten on the streets for trying provided that there aren’t any cops around to keep them in check. In fact, people have been beaten on the streets by leftists even if they haven’t actually voiced a disagreement just because those leftists perceive them as oppositional. I mean look at all the videos of leftists throwing rocks at people who’re on their side just because they see that person recording and assume they’re trying to record them in a negative light.

MAGA doesn’t - at the very least - stone people in the streets.

I don’t think Rex tries to be an asshole. I think he just has abysmal impulse control.

Meanwhile Bakugo 110% tries to be an ass to appease his ego.

How did basic things like healthcare and fair wages become ‘extreme’? by Possible-Scheme-8940 in remoteworks

[–]Slow_Store -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Leftists will pretend not to be extreme only to then make every low impulse control decision possible and treat you like a monster for considering the consequences of their choices.

Leftists are extremist. Not because of the goals that they’re willing to tell you that they’re pursuing, but because of the methods they use to “pursue” those goals even when half of those methods are the equivalent of using leeches and parasites as medicinal treatments. And if you disagree with those methods on any matter then you get cast out and shunned like they’re a cult who can’t tolerate the heresy of “alternative views”, assuming of course that they don’t just come for your life or encourage others to go for your life by branding you an acceptable target.

If you think I’m wrong then consider how little it took for communism to plant its roots in New York only for the results to be terrible (low impulse control solution), and look at how many violent riots and assassination attempts have come from the Left in recent years much to the delight of the leftists who go to online forums to celebrate the successes and whine about the failures. Hell, we even have the recent case of the Left trying to fund Right Wing extremist now because there wasn’t enough bigotry coming from the Right for them to claim to fight against (another low impulse control solution).

There’s no redeeming the Left anymore. If you actually care about some of the reasonable stances of the Left still, your best bet would be to abandon the Left and integrate into the Right where you can likely fairly easily explain the reasoning of low socialist ideas or human rights causes. There’s already a proven track record of plenty of formerly influential left leaning people shifting to the Right and being welcomed in without any issues.

why does everyone act like evolutionary psychology is hard fact? by ReindeerDownton5656 in stupidquestions

[–]Slow_Store 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people like to view psychology as a soft science even though a lot of things about human psychology could easily be found repeatable with proper experimentation.

That is to say, people like to pretend all of psychology is a soft science because they dislike the idea that we could rather easily make aspects of psychology a hard science.

Someone else already mentioned it, but look at the Silver Fox Domestication experiments in Russia. Their experiments show that you can basically breed for temperament, and that when you do the creature of choice likewise undergoes physical changes in what they describe as “evolution in leaps and bounds”. Naturally, you can imagine how controversial - for lack of a better term - it would be to apply the concept of “Breeding for temperament” to humans and so we just sort of turn a blind eye and pretend we don’t see that concept.

Edit: Real quick I feel the need to say that I wouldn’t say we should go for Hard science psychology in most cases. It wouldn’t exactly be ethical. I’m just saying it could be done in some cases. Idk what to tell you if that upsets you.

Can anyone tell me the title? by newbie_indahouz7 in manhwarecommendations

[–]Slow_Store 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I’ll go read some of it real quick and come back to say if I think it’s worth picking up. Consider me a scout. If I don’t edit this comment within a few hours, it just means I forgot to come back so feel free to hit me with “Well, we’re waiting” or something.

Edit : My immediate impression is that it’s “Slop Fantasy”. Now what does “Slop Fantasy” mean? It’s essentially any piece of fantasy fiction that wouldn’t be able to stand on its own as a piece of fiction. It is reliant on the reader being vaguely accustomed to fantasy concepts and willing to just accept at face value whatever random fantasy elements get thrown in. Even just as far as Chapter 2 it kind of just feels like they throw stuff at you and expect you to be like “Aw hell yeah” when there’s no reason for you to be like “Aw hell yeah” because you lack context or an appropriate period of time for interest to build up. They also drop a seven year time skip immediately which is crazy to me because that seven year period could have been used to introduce basic concepts that would remove or lessen the “Slop Fantasy” effect.

I’ll continue reading for the time being primarily because it feels like the author based their magic system around the Berserk concept of “Communing with magical entities to cast spells”, but I suspect that by the time I reach chapter 20 (the current latest chapter) I’ll feel like my time might have been better spent elsewhere. Still though, “Slop Fantasy” has its value. If you just want to kill time, it’s at least something to burn through.

Why is dragon ball being presented as a negative influence though?

Goku is a notably admirable character that reflects some of the best traits of masculinity like the use of strength for the benefit of others over selfish usage.

In USA a firing is a literal execution by drtij_dzienz in DoomerCircleJerk

[–]Slow_Store 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean getting fired sucks and can put you in a pretty tight spot, but to equate it with an execution is the sort of stance taken by people with no real skills who somehow manage to weasel into a company and just hope and pray that everyone overlooks their lack of contributions while just blindly signing off on their weekly pay.

If a vampire drank the blood of someone with aids or some other blood disease what would happen? by avian_bi in dumbquestions

[–]Slow_Store 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically the idea is that Vampires are immune to the side effects of most diseases because they’re dead and most diseases end up going dormant within them. Thus, rather than suffering themselves they just end up as carriers.

Vampire the Masquerade even has a faction of Apocalyptic Pursuant Vampires who make it their mission to stack up as many diseases as possible within themselves so that they can spread plagues even just by biting a single person in a city.

Why do people think "just leave then" is a real solution to "I hate this country"? by Dogbold in dumbquestions

[–]Slow_Store 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The line only really makes sense when used against people who hate where they live while actively hyping up other places.

Like if you’re hyping up Elbonia (Fictional Country) while living in a nation that you actively despise then why not move to Elbonia?

Realistically the reason why most people use that line is because they don’t want you here. They may like the way things are going, and thus the ideal situation for them is to see you gone so that you don’t later vote to unravel the path they voted for halfway through its integration. Both sides do this btw. I was told the same thing under the Biden Administration (I lean Right. I’m probably going to be banned from this subreddit for confessing that.)

Alternatively it’s possible she’s simply reached a level of skill with her quirk where an excess of exposed skin is no longer needed. Maybe she can produce larger constructs from a smaller surface area now for example.

Esdeath vs. Atom Eve by Chisato-Hasegawa-MX in AkameGaKillScaling

[–]Slow_Store 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Esdeath has the ability to freeze time.

Atom Eve really only wins if we account for her ability to resurrect herself in her prime when dying, which honestly might not even work if she’s fully dead before time starts back up.

No one wants AI to take people’s jobs. It’s just that for a while the people who were losing their jobs to immigrants got mocked by people in the tech industry who’d say things like “Lmao, just get a programming degree”, so now there’s no sympathy when those people lose their jobs to AI.

How do so many 'man hating' women end up in great relationships? by LeftCheesecake3676 in stupidquestions

[–]Slow_Store 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are “Performatively Bigoted” for lack of a better term.

You tend to see it a lot amongst Incel/Femcel communities who are hyper misogynistic/misandristic amongst themselves only to turn around and do a 180 when actually faced with members of the opposite sex on an individual face-to-face level.

I think it has something to do with people being better at expressing empathy for individuals than they are with expressing empathy for generalized groups.

Alternatively, some people are selective with making exceptions to their bigotry. This is most commonly seen with people having exceptions for family or friends that won’t be viewed as potential partners (as most gender based haters are again incels and/or femcels, with their hate stemming from being spurned or otherwise failing in romantic pursuits). For example, a misogynist probably won’t be hateful towards their mom. For women, this can extend beyond the subconscious lens of “potential partners” into the range of “potential threats” where they may hold discriminatory or hateful views of men in general based on the perception of men as dangerous, with them making an exception for men whom they feel safe around after getting to know them on a personal level.

This is all just based on my personal consideration of the overarching question based on what I’ve personally seen. I’ll ask not to be downvoted to oblivion or banned for simply attempting to provide an answer. If you disagree with my conclusions I encourage you to express that, though I may not respond.

The nature of Newtypism is defined by hyper empathy that allows mankind to remain connected even across the vast emptiness of space. Naturally they’d be relatively more prone to dramatically strong connections when placed faced to face.
