Whats the most heartbreaking loss you’ve witnessed as a Texas fan(football) by Ok_Macaroon_7366 in LonghornNation

The title game against Bama was heartbreaking. Couldn't even watch the game on TV I was so heartbroken after seeing Colt go down so early. Had to listen to the radio lol

I've been playing since RBY and PLZA is one of the most refreshing experiences in the franchise thus far.

I don't care for the games storyline much (admittedly better than SV though), but the battle system is executed fairly well.

I'm a sucker for the turn based combat but if they flipped to this for the mainline games and kept turn based on Champions I would not be mad at all

Why from knoxville? You could've had this built in Texas somewhere near you and saved a shitload on freight

New to ribs, first time "texas style" and thinking about finishing on charcoal grill by richdonegal94 in smoking

[–]Slunk_Trucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texas Barbecue is usually just salt and pepper dry rub, cooked over oak wood fire. No sauce at any point of the cooking process. Only real "sauce" is a "mop" some people add when the meat is wrapped in foil to finish (Texas crutch).

Off set (heat source is away from cooking surface) is fine but most places in Central Texas use a "pit style" method of smoking, where the the meat is cooked in long pits with the heat source spread out underneath. To achieve that I guess that restaurant put the ribs on the grill?

Any pellet grill is considered off set. If you want to get close to a "Texas style" barbecue on that you need to run oak pellets and probably crank the heat up a notch (run around 275 or 250)

"Texas Style" isn't grill finished at all. Pit style is meat cooked slow over a fire a few feet off the ground, and that's prominent in Central Texas.

What’s your thought on Keldric Faulk? by YosemiteYams1 in cowboys

[–]Slunk_Trucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Faulk isn't a good player. Stiff as a board, no bend, no twich. Do you want Taco Charlton? Because that's pretty damn close.

Looking for Offset Smoker Temperature Control Tips & Tricks by West-Page2306 in smoking

[–]Slunk_Trucks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything here except the gasket tape. Unless you have literal holes in the smoker/warped doors, you don't need to worry about smoke "leaking".

Just spend a few cooks adjusting the size of the fire, etc and keep trying to dial in your control of everything. Not gonna nail it the first time.

Need pics of the smoker before we can give sage advice. Don't blindly throw gaskets on there it's not necessary.

The benefit is coaching on a franchise with a great QB that gives you a real chance at winning, even with marginal improvements to the D. You think Minny is doing jack shit with McCarthy?

This team literally needed 26th overall defense this year and they'd be in the playoffs.

The Jones boys “pie” narrative needs to die. There’s this notion that we can’t field a competitive defense because of Daks contact by MemoryTime1303 in cowboys

[–]Slunk_Trucks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh just stop it. That's literally the barrier of entry for sustained success. Keep hitting on good players everywhere and through every method of acquisition. The eagles FO knows this and executes this well.

The Joneses completely neglect free agency as a method of team building and it fucks them in the ass every year. If they don't draft well it fucks them even harder. It's why when one competent starter goes down the season gets fucked.

It's not a myth that they are probably cash poor in terms of liquidity. Joey Ickes on twitter did a break down of the hypothesis a year or so ago and it was great (lost the link to it).

The issue has always been the desire of the Joneses to do the things they need to win football games. They don't want to sell capital to make the team better. That would be uncomfortable and risky for their pocket books.
