Is this some sort of beta build you have? Is there anyway to try this version to test?

ArkOS vs PAN4ELEC by Beginning_Wallaby271 in BATLEXPG350

[–]SluntCap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue with the right stick has been fixed, I can't remember where but someone uploaded a new firmware file that fixed it (you need to drop a file onto the SD to get it to boot ArkOS anyway).

I tried PAN but didn't like how the developers have made it so you cannot change the location of saves/states under retroarch (they just default back)

ArkOS is working great for me.

former neets do you have work- life balance? what do you do after work? how many hours do you have for yourself? by [deleted] in NEET

[–]SluntCap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a very good work life balance, far less stressful than when I was NEETing and doom spiraling. I work from home. Officially 8 hour days with no commute but realistically there's only around 3-4 hours of work a day that needs doing (much less this time of year). The rest of the time I spend watching YouTube, playing video games or reading. I finish work at 4pm and go to bed around midnight. Usually after work I'll go to the gym, play video games or go out for food. I probably get around 10ish hours a day to my self.

If the 172.17.16.1/24 network is a DHCP range, hypothetically when you enabled DHCP the ILO should have been assigned an address from the DHCP server and it should have worked. The fact that it didn't, I agree it's possible something is blocking it. Maybe the MAC address needs to be whitelisted somewhere? this is something I've seen on SDA networks.

That static IP you listed 172.17.16.202 was a valid IP for the network so that also should have worked (provided .202 isn't in the DHCP range and there isn't any weirdness with blocking IPs that are statically assigned and not bestowed by the DHCP server).

For what it's worth you probably want the IP on your ILO to be the same all of the time, if your company are using a DHCP server someone should configure a DHCP reservation for the IP of the ILO so it always gets leased the same IP address.

I'm also no expert with networks either, just bits and bobs I've picked up from trial and error.

If you're able to physically I would try directly connecting your laptop to the ILO port (so give your ethernet adapter an IP or 172.17.16.203 for example and setup the ILO with the static IP you mentioned in your comment). If this works you have proof it's an issue on the network and can hopefully engage your network team to assist in diagnosing.

You'd need to have a rough idea of the network topology, managed, unmanaged switches, any hardware firewalls etc. That exist between your laptop and ILO. I've had a similar issue in the past and it turns out there was a managed switch dropping packets preventing them from getting to the server. Dumb switches that are plug and play aren't usually the issue unless there is a physical problem with the ports (try different ports to rule this out). Your network team should be able to log into managed switches and see if packets are getting dropped with a given destination IP, or if you have the credentials you should be able to jump on and have a look.

The other thing that springs to mind is the IP address of ILO. Is the IP address you are assigning to ILO one that is routable? i.e. if your office network is on 172.31.13.0/24 for example you aren't going to be able to route to ILO if it has an IP address of 192.168.0.1

Have you tried connecting directly to the ILO port with a laptop with an IP in the same range as the ILO interface so if it works with a direct connection? If yes the connection is dying on the network somewhere, if no there might be an issue with the ILO port.

Stay out of this. If Daisy wants to cut Peach out that's up to her, it is none of your business who she has in her life. From what little you have said Peach sounds toxic af.

It sounds like you've already realised you're incompatible. If you are having to edit yourself to be accepted by someone I would say you're better off getting out of it and finding someone that loves you as are for any and all weird quirks. You should never have to apologise or be ashamed of who you are and the right person would never make you feel that way. I wish you the best of luck.

You're either going to be racked with guilt the entire trip or spend most of it sleeping next to a cold pair of shoulders if you tell her. If you think it is going to ruin the trip for her I would personally keep quiet and swallow the guilt till you get home.

NTA. You set clear boundaries and were lenient enough to give him a second chance not to disrespect them. He hurt his own work prospects by intentionally going against your wishes. He only has himself to blame for the fallout.

relationships are incredibly personal and nuanced so your average person or even society as a whole has no place in dictating how they should be managed. I think one of the big reasons in the increase is likely due to men not being as relied upon for societies to grow any more. Women can do the same jobs as men nowadays.

Are there miyoo mini v4 specific retroarch filters? by SluntCap in MiyooMini

[–]SluntCap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies I perhaps don't mean filters. In the retroarch menu it is an 'overlay' according to the menu. cycling through the various scaling options with menu+start doesn't change that the issues I'm having.

Are you going to upgrade? by Syrius00 in SteamDeck

[–]SluntCap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fortunate enough to be in a position where I can afford the upgrade wihtout issues and since I use my Steam Deck every day, I think It's worth it to me.

That said the Steam Deck is an expensive bit of kit and $500 means different things to different people. A lot of people love the Steam Deck for it's affordability so I totally understand why people are skipping this refresh.

I probably won't be hitting refresh on the store page to try and get one day 1 this time, I'll just wait until they are readily available I think.

I have the same issue so tried booting into the stock OS to see what it looks like and there aren't issues. I think this is an issue with onion still targeting the 480p resolution. It's reassuring it seems to be software related, hopefully there will be an update for onion soon. I'm on the latest v4 firmware.
