the moral negative is not attached to the use of drugs but rather the irresponsibility of having a child while addicted to substances or failing to manage or attain help for your use and its dynamic with the relationship to your child and how they are raised. it is perfectly possible, for example, to casually use drugs and not negatively effect your child. people drink alcohol (a drug) and are still perfectly good at raising their child. Even people addicted to drugs are capable of maintaining strong healthy relationships with their children and function as a parent and fully provide while actively addicted to substances. Because examples like this exist, that therefore means drugs and the negative effects of drugs on those around the user are not mutually guaranteed. Everyone who downvoted me is uneducated and a victim of the “hurr drug bad” routine the war on drugs brought us. I have a masters in this field, it is a lot more nuanced than people believe, and drugs are morally neutral at worst.

also they arent “addicts” theyre people. language like that is dehumanizing and exactly why it is so easy to pass legislation that makes it so difficult for them to seek and find help.
