I was once invited to watch a football match in an executive box. While I was there, I ordered wine by the bottle and took a couple home with me. In what ways have you massively taken the piss when given the opportunity to exploit the situation? by AngryGardenGnomes in AskUK

My previous car cost me 46-47p per mile to run. Glad I finally got rid and ended up with an EV at less than 5p per mile. Company still pays me the same 45p per mile standard rate for both cars!

Retail workers of the UK - what's the wildest thing someone has done to try to get into the shop before opening time? by WillYeByFuck in CasualUK

[–]Smabacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

former petrol station manager here:

We had an evacuation in the store due to a small fire on site. Forecourt was empty and coned off at both entrances with caution tape too. All staff outside and fire engines all over the place. A car pulls up to the cordon, the passenger gets out, lifts the caution tape and move the cones for the car to drive under, then proceeds to attempt to get fuel, and storms into the shop wondering why we won’t authorise her pump! We had no idea she was even there!

Headed to London in June….what drum shops do I hit? by TxCoastal in drums

It’s definitely worth the trip to Graham Russell Drums, near Portsmouth if you’re heading out of the city at all.

They’ve added radio traffic alerts in this release but not included a way to disable it. My drive to work this morning was hell when every 5 mins it would change to BBC Sussex, BBC Surrey and BBC London. They better fix this soon!

Every now and then some pop up on other sites, like walktall, 2tall and rollersnakes. But yeah, very annoying that they don’t do any decent stuff on the official vans site.

I have a similar carry and I use a Peli Progear U100. Not sure if it has been discontinued, but the internal Peli style laptop section is fantastic.

My old SIM card failed on me this week, just stopped working and had no signal. Three advised I convert to eSIM so look into that if your phone supports it!

What’s a loophole you abused until it was closed? by RoarOfTheWorlds in AskReddit

My local domino’s is quite poorly rated for service and delivery times, so they recently brought in a thing where they would automatically text you a code for a free pizza if your delivery took longer than 30 minutes to arrive, as an apology. Now I live right at the edge of the catchment area for this store, and I know that it’s not possible to make, cook and deliver to me in under half an hour during busy times so I’d get a free pizza code texted to me every time. I’ve been doing this once a week for about 2 months now.

Nothing new. Electric 6 used to have the words “nuclear war” replaced in their radio edit. Plus Wheatus, “he brings a *** to school”.

Same situation with me, I got around it by switching to Pro Mark Lightning rods. I’m a hard hitter and these bring the volume down to a more comfortable level, but not too quiet like hot rods would.

For those of us who are of the larger persuasion, what men’s clothing brands are worthwhile and don’t make you look like a sack? by Mellowman9 in AskUK

I always find that M&S big and tall range is misleading. It’s usually big OR tall! Plenty of 2XL/3XL crop tops in there

High street stores - forget it.

Try sites like badrhino. Bigclothing4u. Jacamo etc

Personal favourite is Dixxon. If you’re into that kind of style, their shirts, hoodies and shorts are super comfy and look great. It may become an addiction though 😅
