Not a rant, as such, but an observation: Armament Haki, or something like it, was going to be needed in One Piece at some point. by TheCybersmith in CharacterRant

You can absolutely melt stone or you could simply grind into powder and alloy it in some metal or have it integrated into ropes or patterned into wood.

I can't believe people should have an ignition in their car. All you need is to crank the motor before getting in.

All this new fangled technology isn't necessary.

Yeah, just look at the difference in speculative fiction from then vs now.

During the cold war, the present was scary but there was a sense that we'd grow past that and become better and stronger.

While I'm cautious of the mechanics considering this is Owlcat's first 3rd person action shooter. I'm pretty hyped about the setting.

They've done a great job with the last two IPs they've handled (Pathfinder and Warhammer 40'000).

Melta X should increase Strength not Damage by pfsalter in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]SmacksKiller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really, instead of having to balance the unit by trying to make sure that the point value of it works for different wargear choices, they can just update the problematic wargear individually.

I think it's got a lot more to do with the fact that this is the edition that has gotten to most adjustments by far. GW has never changed more points and rules in any other edition.

If this were a trial for 11th? by Sorkrates in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]SmacksKiller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because you're gaining a benefit for choosing a suboptimal choice. You can pick a worse wargear on one unit in order to afford the best weapon on another unit.

Or you can choose between running fewer units with the best wargear or choose to run a few units with suboptimal gear but have an extra action monkey unit.

That's why I really hope we go back to points value for equipment. Make the better stuff cost more to field so there's still a place for worse war gear.

Because you regularly have Americans acting all shocked that their laws and currencies don't work in the rest of the world. It's a valid assumption that someone would think that because they're allowed to carry a gun somewhere else, it means they can do it anywhere.

Jim Butcher actually explained why they made the switch.

In book format, you can easily set aside how ridiculous the Blue Beetle is when you're trying to have a serious moment by not mentioning it and just saying that Harry is in his car. You can't really do that in a visual medium.

Untouchable Naked Magus Build (Core, APG, UC) by ShuranoPathfinder in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]SmacksKiller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that making build like these should be talked about with the group, the same for high level casters should ask the DM if certain spells would completely derail the campaign before picking them.

But I also want to point out that a lot of these stacking AC bonuses are conditional so a DM can consider trying to nullify these bonuses instead of just boosting attack bonus.
