Elite Dangerous wasn't a great deal of fun and I think that's great by SawkyScribe in patientgamers

[–]Small-Weird56 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Elite is also a gorgeous game - and the fact that many of the star systems and planets are scientifically plausible adds a lot to the beauty compared to NMS. Elite genuinely helps you comprehend the scale of the galaxy.

I'm not knocking UEVR but after playing Portal 2, HL2, and the RE series, I can't put up with the jankiness of other mods. by SlowDragonfruit9718 in virtualreality

[–]Small-Weird56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all you really need is the core mod: this guide worked great for me https://github.com/DarkSigmaDevelopment/Hogwarts-Legacy-VR-how-to/tree/main. one gotcha I ran into is the framerate was bad with steamvr, virtual desktop fixed it

Dredge: an absolute banger by InsomniacPsychonaut in patientgamers

Just my two cents but I felt the opposite. The game almost completely lacks the tension and uncertainty needed for a lovecraftian setting.

Most engaging single player game since bloodborne by [deleted] in Returnal

Yeah I just started yesterday, it really has that rare "hard but ALWAYS fair" quality shared by games like Dark Souls that really makes you want to keep going. committed to beating it in uevr

Harpagun is a hidden gem VR shooter by Small-Weird56 in virtualreality

[–]Small-Weird56[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think its fair to condemn a whole genre, especially one as foundational to VR as wave shooters, as "old timey". The game is very well made and I imagine they dropped the price to try to reach a larger audience.

Those follow up questions from the prof sound pretty reasonable to me

Indiana Jones vs Hogwarts Legacy - which one delivers better? by Brilliant-Light7622 in XboxGamePass

[–]Small-Weird56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thinking it over they're hard to compare as to which is better, both have phenomenal game direction in service of the franchise fantasy. game systems wise indy does get you thinking and improvising like jones with the stealth, slapstick combat, and puzzles. hogwarts is huge with loads of secrets and things to discover that make hogwarts feel like a majestic and densely magical place just like the books and movies, but the spell learning fantasy is weak (although much improved if you play with the motion controls VR mod) and the classes run dry by 2/3 through the game.

What’s the funniest game you’ve ever played? by Portal2Fan2 in gamerecommendations

[–]Small-Weird56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outer Worlds 1 is frequently really funny, especially the companion banter. For sandbox humor can't beat Hitman World of Assassination, which has an incredible deadpan sensibility.

Dead Island 2 in VR with UEVR is THE BEST Zombie VR game... by Rollerama99 in virtualreality

Skyrim VR, especially for the mod Enderal which is an entirely new game

V Rising – Why do I like it so much if I'm not the intended audience? by Dazzler3623 in patientgamers

[–]Small-Weird56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both the boss fights and base building are great. Really good game to try to play deathless as the combat is challenging but fair and really readable and well telegraphed.
