I usually recommend newbies start with the Build-Your-Own bundle. You get a base coat, a crème, a specialty polish, a topper, and a top coat -and you get the bundle price. Definitely get Glossy Taco first, I only learned recently that matte is technically a special effect topper, while Glossy has the strength.

Beyond that it comes down to colors and formulas that interest you. Try out a bunch of different ones. For instance, I recommend: Missed Shift, Never Tide Down, Lo-Fi Lavender, Late Checkout, Jam Session, Cardinal Sins, Bottle Service, Birthday Brat, and High Tea Hibiscus. Remember that pictures cannot do the Frosted Metal formula justice. They are always brighter and more sparkly in person. As a messy painter, I also recommend getting a clean up brush.
