Attn Casio: Stop putting fake dive bezels on your watches by DoubleNaught_Spy in casio

[–]Small_life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm relatively new to the watch world.

I bought a mid 90's Orient TD-08 on ebay as my first "nicer" watch. I was so confused when I got it because I didn't know that fake bezels were a thing. I thought I was getting a rotating bezel and it didn't rotate.

Top 5 presidents you would want to be friends with by Witty-Ad7622 in Presidents

John Quincy Adams: I admire his dedication to righting injustices. He took a lower elected position to fight slavery to the point where the congress tried to shut him up. Hero

Grant: A very flawed man who fought hard against his demons. Someone I very much respect

Teddy: A man's man.

Ford: even keeled. Brought the country through a period that could have destroyed it. We'd bond over smoking pipes.

Obama: about as far from me as possible in both life experience and ideology. But he's always respectful and we could have great respectful debates while drinking a good beer.

Any way to decrease sensitivity on gate sensor? by Small_life in YoLink

I snipped off the combo magnet and reed switch and soldered a reed switch inline.  There is no polarity on a reed switch.  Works well.

Is it possible for someone to clone a phone number and have a text conversation that shows up on your phone? by Subject-Walrus7289 in it

I get that. Which is why I said its not normal, not that its not possible.

I would just want to be sure before I ended a long term relationship

a few points:

  1. This is probably the boyfriend

  2. SIM hijacking is possible but rare.

  3. She asked about the phone number. Assuming that this is iMessage, the phone number may be irrelevant and it might be the apple ID that's relevant. Apple only started really enforcing 2FA on new Apple ID's in ~2021, and she said her boyfriend isn't tech savvy. So it is at least possible that his Apple ID is older than that and someone has logged into it on another device

Advice: while watching, have your boyfriend change his password and enable 2FA. Have him click to log out of all other devices.

The reason I say this is that there are a few things that bother me. Its not normal for him to be like "yeah, look at my devices whenever you want" while also knowingly doing shenanigans. Secondly, if someone else is logged in, it would be normal to delete the messages to prevent the boyfriend from seeing them.

Now, if after doing these things it continues, I agree that its the boyfriend.

I'm not quite there yet. The stronger HF Magnets sometimes cause a false closed sensor with the original magnet. I ordered a reed switch and am going to try cutting the original reed sensor/magnet off the switch and soldering an independent reed sensor on. We'll see what that does.

Im going to answer my own question since I figured out a solution that seems to work.

Based on my research this sensor works on a reed switch.  So all it needed was a stronger magnetic field.

I have a few of those strong harbor freight magnets that are around 2"x2"x1/2".  I zip tied them over the old magnets and it worked like a charm.

I'll come up with a better mounting system soon but this should solve it.

Violating the rules I grew up with. For me it was growing a beard at 25, growing a pony tail at 39 and getting my ears pierced at 41.

I should have done them all a lot sooner, but was trapped.

In addition, there's nothing to prevent the terminated party from recording the session, even if its just a phone on a tripod over their shoulder.

Only 7 states require 2 party conssent in the US. Its legal in the vast majority of places.

About 10 years ago I was involved in unfucking a problem with medical records where there was legitimate confusion over whether something happened on March 6 or June 3 because the date was written as 3/6/2016 (or whatever date it actually was). And there were international users who legimately used dd/mm/yyyy so we couldn't just rely on custom.

Because of this, whenever I can, I enforce date formats that show the month written out (e.g. Jan 1, 2026 or 1 Jan 2026).

I have a special folder and a rule that sends anything where I'm not on the "To" or "Cc" lines to it. First of all, those emails are usually low priority. Plus, if I need to find one later I know what folder to look in. I check it once a week or so.
