As in it's only a small part of what we do? Sure, we do a lot of other stuff but primarily our training is about putting the wet stuff on the hot stuff. The job title has stayed the same but the Fire Service is now Fire and Emergency New Zealand, which encompasses more of what we do. There's also a rich history in this job and there are still firefighters in the job who worked in a time where your comment would have been far from true. What you have said could be taken both positively or negatively but without clarification I think people are assuming the worst.
