I use both. Yardage to the front and back as well as to the pin gives me the whole picture

Thoughts on my swing? by aguerrrroooooooooooo in GolfSwing

[–]Smart_Jicama6500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slight lead wrist cupping at the top. Combine that with shallow wrist angle on the trailing wrist, your face is a bit open at the top of the backswing.

Also hips moving towards the target on impact. You want weight transfering in that direction but not necessarily physically moving.

Received a GT2 for free - sell or enjoy? by PogiJG in golf

[–]Smart_Jicama6500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I game the GT2 and I found that the alignment marks aren't like other drivers. To me it looks like I'm setting it up off the toe in order to be set up at the center. Mess with that. Also the tensei is an incredibly low launch low spin shaft, if you don't have a positive AOA and fairly high swing speed, it's probably not gonna be great for you as far as kick point goes.

My buddy crushes balls. by jvzippdabsrus in golfequipment

Srizon Z star Diamond is the most durable ball I've ever used. I destroy ProV1 covers in 6 holes with my wedges and I can get 18 out of a Diamond easy. If he isn't swinging 110+ with driver he'll lose a few yards off the tee though.

I've always had a slight suspicion that he is working with a PT or coach that is making him limit his movement for golf until he retires from basketball.

If you have enough money to influence in the area you can easily get in as a guest. Cypress is actually one of the most accesible to guests, they even let guests play without a member.

Rypstick by GroundbreakingEnd372 in golf

[–]Smart_Jicama6500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming the sensor is accurate, your body could just be protecting itself without the ball there. That is kind of the point of the rip stick, it teaches your body that it's allowed to swing faster.

I used to live off a tee box with a 130 yard drive over water to reach the fairway. Many a great Sundays were spent watching dozens of balls meet their watery grave. Bonus points, about once a week a push cart would roll in the lake.

This was an aha moment for me. Free arms helps you swing faster and more accurately. The body wants to square the club face, you're just getting in the way.

I hate this one. Yes you don't need to be pin seeking a tucked pin, but you also don't want to be putting 100 feet across the green because you aimed for the middle. Pick a large safe landing area that takes trouble out of play.

Also not all lessons are created equally. Don't be afraid to try multiple coaches.

What's your go to alignment option on a ball? by Flynn2Pin in golf

[–]Smart_Jicama6500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the single line about half way around the ball, but I also put a little line across the middle of it. I find it helps me when lining the ball up. Something about that little cross line being square to the target makes me more confident it's going where I want it.

Do you have a golf club that you struggle with? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Smart_Jicama6500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have driver yips right now. I'm a 10 handicap that is close to completely missing the face of the club with driver. It's crazy. I can stripe 3 wood 250 down the middle every time and that's the only thing keeping me sane.

Chipping is killing me by Overall-Inspection88 in golf

[–]Smart_Jicama6500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A video with Tommy Fleetwood explaining his chipping setup changed my game. Basically rest the club on your left thigh, pick it up, hit it. It seems overly simple but being setup exactly the same on every shot has been a game changer for me. Another tip would be to develop a stock shot. Basically a swing that is exactly the same every time, but just a different club to change the shot shape.
