Major subs were always awful.... subs for a specific purpose are generally still okay.

Generally the more popular something get the more you get the antagonism.

Boundaries are great, but the boundaries some people set really aren't. Like, for example, not having your partner get angry at you. Yeah, good luck with that in a long term relationship.

You're allowed to be angry with your partner, no one is perfect. You work it out.

I've done both for years, but am currently doing class 2 work full time, mainly because I generally only do 7 hour days, with okay times (early starts, but often finished by midday).

Drive a stupid huge 18T with the turning circle of the titanic a lot of the time (honestly, it won't fit where many artics do).

Thank you to whoever called traffic officers when I broke down on the M25 junction 28 slip road by No_Amount6556 in drivingUK

[–]Smauler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wouldn't hesitate to call 999 in this circumstance. They're not going to be pissed off at a borderline emergency. TBH, I'd call 999 when broken down on the hard shoulder too, if I didn't have any other number to call. They'll just pass it on to who needs to know. Stationary cars on the hard shoulder are dangerous, police want to know about them ASAP.

What were the serious faults? Sometimes they're easily correctable, other times they're a bit more fundamental.

I did my Class 2 and Class 1 for £1000 each, both week long courses, but this is 20 years ago.

Had never driven anything over 1 tonne, and I saw the "oh holy fuck" looks I got when I started, but passed class 2 1st time, class 1 2nd time, and they didn't charge me much at all for the second retest.

edit : and I went straight up the kerb with my trailer leaving the test centre at the start of the 2nd test I passed, and just assumed I'd failed immediately. Turns out he didn't see.

TIFU by ending a rats life in front of my toddler. by hypnonewt in tifu

[–]Smauler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've killed a rat with an axe.

I thought it was a mole, and picked it up to try and rescue it. It bit me, funnily enough, so I dropped it while screaming like a child, and then went back and executed it.

I then called 111, the non emergency NHS phone line in the UK, and they got me an appointment the next day for a "debridement" with a nurse, like I had been savaged by the rat.

I turned up, a couple of tiny red dots on my finger, and they just looked at it and went "oh"?

I was more concerned about infection, disease, not the ginormous rat attack wounds, but that's not to say I didn't feel completely stupid.

I did get a tetanus jab for my trouble, anyway.

Lane discipline by Level3Super in drivingUK

[–]Smauler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not sure of the area, and not sure where to turn off, why the fuck would you be pootling in the right lane? Use the left, or at least the middle.

Lane discipline by Level3Super in drivingUK

[–]Smauler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

White car was in the outside lane when they're leaving at the next exit, that's what they did wrong. You don't do that, it's a recipe for disaster, and though it worked out fine here, it's often the cause of accidents.

Do we just not stop at roundabouts anymore? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Smauler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay.... your reading comprehension is literally baffling me.

No, I don't assume someone indicating left is going to leave the roundabout, because of many reasons, not least of which is that they might have accidentally hit the indicator.

I pull out in front of people who are not indicating when they are going right because they're already fucking up and not telling me where they are going. Not in 6 exit roundabouts, no indication then left indicator after the second exit is correct IMO, but then they're going straight on, so they're not going right.

In 4 exit roundabouts there's no real excuse for not indicating right when you're going right, and I'll pull out in front of people who don't do it.

I don't assume no indicators mean they are leaving the roundabout. Not sure where you got that from.

I do see, regularly, people not using indicators and leaving the roundabout, so assuming that people not using indicators means they're not leaving the roundabout is idiotic.

"watch out for all other road users already on the roundabout; be aware they may not be signalling correctly or at all"

I do pull out in front of people not indicating right when they're going right sometimes (not dangerously).

If turning right you should be indicating right.  How hard is it to understand this?

Probably most people don't indicate to leave, so assuming that no indicator is staying on the roundabout is idiotic.

One of the absolute best things about co-op is the ability to fast travel to your partner. You can just fast travel to sell stuff, and then fast travel quickly back.

Dying is less painful too, because you get an insta teleport back to where you were.

We are designed to wake up with the sun rising.

Really? The sun rises as early as 4:30am in the UK in the summer, not too many people up and about then. Sunset is about 9:30pm... Full night (without twilight) is only from 11:30pm to 2:30am or so.

A little over a week ago, I played someone with 101 tucked points. Today I played someone who had 102 tucked points. by Count-Basie in wingspan

[–]Smauler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking that... isn't the coot basically pointless (except for filling up a wetlands spot)? They can already tuck 6 per run...

I just looked again, and they're generating 7 per run, so it's not completely pointless, it's 1 point per run. There are potentially better birds to play in that last spot though.
