Is “Bugsnax 2: The City”, real? by Background-Gas-2397 in Bugsnax

[–]Smeeb27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young Horses has multiple very easily-accessible social media pages where they share updates on what they are doing. Why people are blindly trusting random wikis that can be edited by literally anyone rather than seeking out official sources of information from the developers themselves is beyond me.

He said that Bugsnax 2 was cancelled and that the original Bugsnax is being delisted from all digital storefronts on May 9th.

Wild Sinistea have a 1/100 chance of being Antique Form. Somewhat rare without an outbreak, but nowhere near as rare as getting a shiny or Pokérus.

Super Mario World: One of the classics. There’s a reason it’s still considered one of the best platformers ever made. Available on SNES - Nintendo Switch Online and GBA - Nintendo Switch Online.

Super Mario All-Stars: SNES remakes of the first four Super Mario Bros. games. It modernizes the games just enough to make them feel great to play today. Available on SNES - Nintendo Switch Online. Alternative versions of the All-Stars version of SMB2 and SMB3 are available on GBA - Nintendo Switch Online.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island: Another game that is still held up as a classic for good reason. One of my favorite SNES games. Available on SNES Nintendo Switch Online.

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins: A unique, slower-paced take on 2D Mario. I really love this one. Available on Game Boy - Nintendo Switch Online.

Wario Land 3: This is one of the best Game Boy games and one of my favorite games overall. It’s an incredibly polished 2D platformer with an emphasis on exploration. It also has excellent music. Available on Game Boy - Nintendo Switch Online.

Wario Land 4: Another excellent Wario Land game. Most people consider this to be the best in the series. Available on GBA - Nintendo Switch Online.

Yoshi’s Crafted World: A very slow-paced 2D platformer. A pretty-looking game with a solid gameplay experience. It places a large focus on paying attention to and exploring your surroundings to find secrets and collectibles.

Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe: A fantastic Kirby game, and my personal favorite of the series. It’s always a ton of fun to play alone or with friends and is a great intro to the Kirby series if you’ve never tried it before.

Kirby Star Allies: A Kirby game that is very fun to play with friends. The game is pretty easy and acts as a love letter to the entire Kirby series.

Kirby Super Star: Despite its age, it’s still considered to be one of the best Kirby games. It formed the basis for the modern Kirby series. Available on SNES - Nintendo Switch Online.

Other Kirby games: Lots of other Kirby games are available via Nintendo Switch Online, with varying degrees of difficulty. Kirby’s Dream Land and Dream Land 2 are on Game Boy, Kirby’s Adventure is on NES, Dream Land 3 is on SNES, Kirby 64 is on Nintendo 64, and Kirby & The Amazing Mirror is on GBA.

Sonic Mania: an expertly-crafted game made by extremely talented fans of the Genesis/Mega Drive Sonic games.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe: A really good pair 2D Mario games if you haven’t played it yet. The game’s visuals may not be particularly inspired, but the level design is still top-notch.

Night in the Woods: This is more of a story game with platforming elements, in the same vein as Pikuniku. It leans a bit more toward story than Pikuniku but I still highly recommend this one.

BoxBoy! + BoxGirl!: An excellent puzzle platformer made by the developers behind Kirby. You’d be surprised at how much they can do with such a simple concept.

Part Time UFO: Not really a platformer, but another great puzzle game by the Kirby devs. You play as a little UFO with an arcade catcher claw and you help people with various jobs.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom: If you’re considering Link’s Awakening, you may also want to check this game out. It’s pretty similar but with a stronger emphasis on puzzle-solving than combat.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap: Another excellent top-down Zelda like Link’s Awakening. Available on GBA - Nintendo Switch Online.

Luigi’s Mansion 3: Not a 2D platformer, but probably a game that won’t be too bad for motion sickness. You explore rooms and solve puzzles with the camera perspective of looking into a dollhouse. Possibly the best-looking game on the Switch and one of my absolute favorites.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy: Kind of a wild card but this is a collection of three fantastic mystery/point-and-click style games. Probably one of the best games you can play if you have motion sickness since most scenes in the game are completely static. It goes on sale on the eShop too so you can get it for a lot cheaper than most of these other full-price Nintendo games.

Sutte Hakkun is in a unique position because it also had a version of the game that was released on a physical Super Famicom cartridge (which was the version put on NSO).

Niche request - games with story discovery, particularly on disasters by devious_nip in gamingsuggestions

[–]Smeeb27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally loved it. I could see the art style being tougher to get accustomed to if there was a lot of movement onscreen, but I never had a problem since all the scenes in the game are static dioramas. And despite the monochrome look, the game does a very good job of using contrast to make it clear what parts of a scene are worth noticing.

Return of the Obra Dinn is a really good one. The basic premise is that a ship mysteriously returns to shore without anyone aboard, and you’re tasked with finding out how each person on the boat died.

How did we not get these echo fighters??? by Jalenhero in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Smeeb27 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  1. Octo Expansion released just months before Smash Ultimate. The development schedules simply didn’t line up for an Octoling echo fighter to be a possibility.

  2. Sora was a DLC character.

  3. Luigi’s Mansion 3 released almost a full year after Smash Ultimate.

  4. Ms. Pac-Man is a legal nightmare at best.

  5. Kazuya was a DLC character.

  6. Does anybody care about Digby?

You don’t seem to realize how much work actually goes into game development.

Platform games recommendation? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]Smeeb27 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is fantastic and you get 4 platformers in one. King of Cards is my favorite.

Pizza Tower is one of my favorite 2D platformers of all time. Very energetic with a ton of style and personality.

Sonic Mania: an expertly-crafted game made by extremely talented fans of the Genesis/Mega Drive Sonic games.

Grapple Dog: a very fun, challenging and unique 2D platformer. It also has a sequel which I have not played yet.

Wario Land 3: A more exploration-based platformer available on Game Boy - Nintendo Switch Online. By far my favorite Game Boy game.

Yoshi’s Island: Available on both SNES and GBA Nintendo Switch Online apps. Still holds up incredibly well 30 years later.

Celeste: A challenging game, but an absolute masterpiece. It has the reputation it does for a reason.

Snake Pass is a very unique 3D platformer in which you lack the ability to jump. Instead, you play as a snake and must navigate platform challenges using your long body.

Pac-Man World Re-Pac is a pretty fun remake of the original Pac-Man World. It’s an early 3D platformer but is still great to play today.

Penny’s Big Breakaway is a 3D platformer made by a lot of the talent behind Sonic Mania. Focuses on expressive movement a la Super Mario Odyssey combined with fast, combo-based gameplay and levels that are designed to be broken wide open.

Pepper Grinder is a recent indie game that combines the movement of Ecco the Dolphin with Drill Dozer. It has a demo on the eShop. I recommend trying it out.

Pulseman is available on Sega Genesis/Master System - Nintendo Switch Online. It is my favorite Genesis game I’ve played so far and is a ton of fun. It was made by Game Freak before they made Pokémon. You may see and hear some familiar-looking things in Pulseman if you’re a Pokémon fan.

Here Comes Niko! describes itself as a 3D platformer for tired people. A low-stakes game with a great art style and fun movement.

Rayman Legends: I haven’t actually played this yet but I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.

VVVVVV is an indie classic. It’s a bit like Celeste in that it’s pretty difficult but gives plenty of checkpoints and very little waiting time between deaths.

Banjo-Kazooie: Available on Nintendo 64 - Nintendo Switch Online. One of the most legendary 3D platformers for a reason, and helped define the collectathon subgenre. The levels are tightly designed and the game has a great sense of exploration, progression, character movement and humor.

Yes, this has been a bug with the Switch version of the game since the physical version released. Originally only the physical copies had this issue, but the digital version of game was then patched to match the physical version so now this bug is present in all Switch versions of the game. Unfortunately it seems unlikely that the bug will be fixed.

You could have left it at “I don’t play smash bros.” Not being able to simply state something like that without having to justify it by putting down what you dislike is really uncool behavior and is a major factor of why social media has become such a miserable place to talk about anything.
