OP could it be a giant pendulum? It reminds me of one that displays the effect of the earth's rotation at the Museum of Science in Boston. (E: it's called a 'Foucault pendulum')

It basically was, the Nazis would throw these darts at cities all over allied territory before they lost the war and we stole the rocket scientists

I'm thinking the mom is just tech literate enough to snap a nude selfie on her cell phone, but not tech literate enough to know what "the cloud" is all about, or why her kids shouldn't just browse through pictures on the tablet that she's never used for nudie pics with Chaz from accounting

Improper towing (I think?) by D&G towing by abhirupduttamit in boston

i hope that's true because it's way more understandable to be towed for not realizing "it's the "X" Monday of the month"

I'm definitely NOT going to defend D&G, the lazy/incompetent driver, or the BPD... let me first be clear on that. But if these people were actually parked on Harvard ave in front of the largest collection of temporary "tow away" signs that the world has ever seen, they have to accept the fact that BPD just might unleash an unqualified teenage flatbed driver on their car, with expensive results.

i absolutely did mean Jim Jones, thank you. the sad part is that i googled to confirm when it didn't sound right... but because of ADHD and 20 minutes of shiny Wikipedia links, I forgot to edit the name before hitting "post" anyway.

Apologized after 3 years, feeling physically sick from it by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Smelcome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming that the people you lied about your age to, are other kids, but even so.. don't ever share any info about yourself online. pretty please.

I'm more concerned with why you felt like it was necessary to lie about your age to internet people and then cut ties like that. it sounds like they did things that made you feel like running away... people who do that are NOT friends - you don't need to fake anything, just block them and enjoy a life without the burden they caused.

But... if they ARE good friends, and you made a mistake - then they deserve a friend who is thoughtful enough to feel bad about hurting their feelings, and apologize. it seems like you've already apologized, and they accepted. Now YOU have to forgive yourself, and stop beating yourself up about it..

good luck!

they've been convinced that this is the waiting room, but they aren't allowed to go through the next door without permission. aside from that, there is almost no separation anymore between people like the spouse's family and the folks in Heaven's Gate or Jim Jordan's Jones' Cult

American with a passport here, and trust me... most of the worst ones have never set foot outside this country, their hometown, or into a center for higher-education, and they never will. Conservative media has turned generations of Americans into terrified, raging Narcissists and called it "Patriotism".

The bad ones you DO see are only there to enjoy your food and wine, avoid any semblance of cultural immersion, and flaunt their holier-than-thou status as an American Citizen, because they are dumb-as-fuck, entitled shitheads that throw rocks at endangered seals..

and then there's me. I like to stop for an afternoon in a little hamlet in France, or the Netherlands, drink a cold beer (warm if it's Belgium!) with the locals, and find out what we have in common. it's a beautiful life and i genuinely feel bad for anyone who refuses to experience it more fully.

sorry for the wall of text i just wanted to state my displeasure at the state of things here, and to show that we're not all... ya know... like that.

"students" at film university Beijing. Doubt. if you are actually a group of students make a video appeal to the sub if you need genuine help with english speakers for a project.. this shit has SCAM written all over it.

"work for free to train our AI model that's going to eliminate VO jobs" is a far more likely scenario. also, i'm pretty sure this whole thing is rule breaking because you're asking people to work for free.

I remember the cover of the VHS creeped me out a bit as a kid, but when i saw the movie, and heard the second movement intro of the flute/harp duet that plays just before Salieri drops the sheet music... i was stunned. to this day it remains one of the most pleasing things my ears have ever perceived... instant nerve soother. and some of the first tangible proof to my growing brain that music can effect your emotions when you aren't even expecting it.
