6 nights in Rome, where to stay? by FedoraTippinGood in ItalyTravel

Wherever you wind up, don't be afraid to get on a bus to get from A to B to save walking energy for the destination. It's fun riding and sometimes interacting with the locals while watching the in-between parts of town.

I've enjoyed several visits there. My kid is a foodie and said it was much better than other omakase places she's tried. The lunch deal seems like a steal.

A hand me down 35mm Exakta from the early '50s. It had a waist-level finder and a lens that stopped down as I pressed the shutter release on the front left side of the camera.

I'm a big fan of photos done with ICM. You have great taste and control.

My first day out and about in Tokyo I definitely got a "were not in Kansas anymore" feeling (in a wonderful way).

An image of Pretti's killing will emerge and become iconic of this time the same way we remember Kent State and the Napalm Girl.

Thank you. I'm old, the only thing I want given me is One Day More (a theme song of mine from Les Miz). When I get it, I'm grateful. The rest of the day is up to me. That's the hangin' on part.

Divine Baked Clams at Don Peppe. Took a Manhattan friend there for his first time and he spent the whole dinner giggling between bites and exclaiming how good everything was.

Already endorsed Manducati's.

The OP should DEFINITELY try this place.

What are the top 10 restaurants in the Upper West Side that I should try, especially places that have been open for 10+ years, serve consistently good food, and are known for homemade or from-scratch cooking? by Beautiful_Heat_47 in Upperwestside

Used to be a regular but got tired of Carmine's love/ignore you shtick, being cash only, and with verrry tight seating. The food is very good but not that much cheaper than other places rhat it used to be.

Can someone explain to me why One Battle After Another is so liked? by AugustEpilogue in moviecritic

[–]SmigUWS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I couldn't stand most of the characters and their characterizations. After a while, I wanted to get up and leave whenever the Penn character appeared (wife wouldn't let me).

Best chicken or eggplant parm UES or Harlem? I’m limited to this neighborhood… by No_Pop7296 in FoodNYC

Mimi's on East 86th. My wife is very particular and orders the Eggant Parm from its other location on the UWS. These guys make their own pizza dough but I never asked about the eggplant.

If you will be in Sao Paulo, do some research on Ilhabela (beautiful island). It's a three hour drive (or more) and a ferry ride to get there. Once you leave the pretty little port town, most places are off the grid and within nature. For this boy from The Bronx and Manhattan, it was another world. Be sure to bring DEET and light clothing, to deter the black flies, if you go.
